ny,When I lived in Texas we had a saying about the weather... If you don't like it wait a few minutes and it will change... the same thing applies with food during treatment. Something might be going down fine for awhile and then a few days later, not so much. The one thing I can say that was completely predictable about treatment is that it was completely unpredictable. Food was a pain in the rear for me and most times I was too exhausted to eat. I can remember my husband cooking a nice meal one night. He had grilled chicken (I have a thing about grilled bbq chicken.. I usually hate it and it's almost

always dry) and God only knows what else the poor man made, just trying to get me to eat. I took one bite of the chicken and then just like a 2 year old, I said "eww" and opened my mouth and let the chicken fall off of my tongue. He was ticked. I wasn't trying to be funny it tasted horrible, but that was my stupid taste buds. Now I'll tolerate his chicken every once in awhile if I have to, but that day, nope, wasn't getting past my mouth. He grilled steaks one night. I accused him of getting the two white spices mixed up. I was sure he put sugar on my steak. He tasted it, it was fine to him but not to me. Funny thing was, he never ever puts salt on meats so it wouldn't have been even a mix up. It was my taste buds that were sure there was sugar on my steak and it was gross. Finding food I would eat was a challenge. Two things remained constant. The burgers at Jake Moran's Bar,

those always tasted the same as long as the owner made it for me (his burgers are in the top 3 of all burgers in the Chicagoland area) and the Prime Rib at Gale Street. Now getting to the bar was easy, it was just down the street, we could go there in the afternoon, have a burger, or in my case a third of a burger, and be home in an hour or less. I could go any way I wanted to be dressed. I did show up in flannel pj bottoms and a tshirt on more than one occasion... Gale Street, I had to feel good to go there and I had to be dressed appropriately so I think we did that all of twice the whole time I was on treatment. So what works one day may not work the next. It's all trial and error. Okay, I just wrote a book to make a point and I think I forgot what the point was.... That's really funny!! We have 3 A & W's here in this smallish place. The one that my vehicles just will not drive into, is of course, Mc's. Oh how I hate the place. One other place that 'used" to do a good burger was Dairy Queen. But, the one here sure doesn't do them like in the olden days.

I have not seen a A & W since Santa Cruz Ca sometime in the late 80s. I can't tolerate any meat right now, not even the smell. I used to love chicken so much! Thanks for thinking that I am handing it good, sometimes I don't think I am. yes the on-line support is a great, I would not be able to get through this without it. I had trouble with it during tx, but not after. Give me a steak every day of the week and I will be in heaven. Chicken, mostly ick for me... not a big chicken person. I think it's cause my mom made so much chicken in the microwave when I was growing up and it was horrible. Fish.. gotta have a real craving for it. But what I ate during tx was a whole different ball game. It was whatever would stay down. I hated eating. And I'm telling ny to eat. And I know how hard it is. I hate to see anyone go thru what I did.. and ny, you are walking in my path dude. You're pretty much handling it just the way I did.. Only you're doing a better job of it. I was a pain in the

ass during tx. And I had no online help either. I didn't even have internet back then. Wow. What a difference that might have made. A & W for a burger? There is one A & W left here in IL. I think only one. I was there not too long ago and all I wanted was Root Beer. I haven't eaten at one of those since I was a little kid. I totally lost the taste for any red meat at all!! One day, not too long ago, I suddenly got a tremendous craving for a burger. Now, I can't remember the last time I'd even eaten a burger, never mind actually craving one. But, down to the A & W I went. Haven't had such a craving again. To tell you the truth - even now I don't think my taste buds are back to normal! Tonight for instance, I had a really big chunk of Halibut to cook up. As a rule, if I'm going to eat Halibut, I want it fairly plain. However, it must have been too plain because it didn't taste like anything at all. I'm finding that a lot of foods that I'm eating just don't really have a taste.Maybe it means that I'm supposed to actually learn how to

prepare food a little bit better and find a way to get the taste back.Gloria
