My name is Lynne I am 43. Took the shot at 7pm, felt great except for a what felt like a finger pressing out from the inside where my liver is, but bearable. I took some Ibprofen at 9 and went to bed around 11. Unfortuntally, I woke up at 2ish chills, body aches, miserable. I took 2 more Ibuprofen, tossed and turned the rest of the night. Feel ok this morning, just tired, & have an ache in both my hips, (a soreness like when you work out too hard at the gym). Really making an effort to stay hydrated with water and juice, since it seems most people on this forum say that's the best way to lower the side effects & help the meds work better. (Tired of having to go to the restroom ever 30 minutes though!) So glad this forum is here and all the support & information everyone brings to it. As far as stats (I think this is what you mean)Log 5.94 (up from 4.967 when 1st diagnosed in March)HCV Quantification: 869,000 (up from 92,000)Genotype 3, 24 week plan. Are there any other stats that are important for me to be tracking? Still learning how to decifer all these lab reports. Hi there,

What's your name wolfee? I'm Debora from Michigan. I've done 10 shots now. I do my shot at 6 or 7 in the evening. I take my pills at 10 am and 10 pm because that is the best 12 hour schedule for me. I do not feel bad the evening of my shot. But I do feel a little worse the next two days. I always eat something healthy with my pills. They are a bit heard on the stomach and give heartburn. So I eat real food, not chips. You'll know what you need to eat to feel good.

Congratulations on starting your Tx. Let us know how your sides are. And tell us your stat's so we know what your journey is all about.

Love, Debora in Michigan

LynneHonestly, if that is the worst that you felt after the 1st shot - you should do very well throughout the program. I'm surprised that you don't feel so tired that you'd rather just stay in bed. Way to go!!!The labs to watch to start with would be: ALT AST HGB WBC the NEU and PLT are of some interest if they are giving them to you. Of course, the most important would be the viral load; but, you likely will not get another test for that until after the 12th week.Gloria

Trudy: Shot on Thurs night: Work up middle of the night with chills and flu feelings. Friday: Most of the day hung around on the couch, felt achey, flu like, took ibprofen, went to bed early. (8:30 pm)Sat: Felt about 97% normal, well enough to go shopping that day, toward the afternoon out need to get home & relax. Today (Sun): 100% myself! I feel like the "flu" I had on Friday is completely gone. My questions to the forum: 1. Is my reaction normal, am I the exception? 2. Will the next shot\reaction be worse as then I will be on the Riba for 7 days & have more meds in my system? I was looking at this as a marathon. So, I was gearing up ahead of time for the main event. Mentally, Ive been psyching myself that its all going to be fine & visualizing a healed\healthy liver. I already ate healthy-vegetables, fruits, un-processed foods (not always though) but I try. I dont usually eat meat but do eat fish. I try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week. (even if just 20

minutes on the treadmill) I started weeks before getting in the habit of drinking as much water as I can. If I drink juice I make sure it is 100% juice and NO corn syrup\artificial sugars. (takes me forever to shop-always reading labels!)

I'm just constantly trying to drink water, NON-caffeinated teas (green,

chamomile, blueberry etc) & juice. Which i learned on this forum that staying ultra hydrated helps with the sides and the treatment. The hardest thing was giving up my wine, but that has been OUT too! Was my pre-treatment gear-up & currently staying hydrated why I am having an easier time? Tks. Debora, thanks for the encouraging words. Yes, I am in good health, (found out I had this on fluke) I have awesome support from friends & family. I do have to work, but due to cut backs they have me off on Fridays. So, it works out perfectly for shots on Thurs evenings. Yesterday had some ups and downs physically, got lots of rest last night and feel 95% normal today. Just took my morning Riba, we shall see how this day goes. Lynne,

That's great that you are type 3, 24 week Tx and 80% chance to clear. And your Viral Load is low. And you are young. Wow, girl, you got the whole package!!!

I hope you have an easy ride with the sides. Keep us posted. Are you in pretty good health overall? Do you have good support and do you have to work?

Bless you, Lynne,

Love, Debora in Michigan

Lynne,There are still e-mails I haven't read yet but responding at the risk of being redundant. It sounds like you had a pretty decent time of your first shot. There are no rules or exceptions with this treatment as it affects everyone differently. We each have our own walk with this treatment and it hits us all differently. Yes, staying hydrated will help the symptoms, what you experienced was pretty run of the mill. Is it going to be the same next week? Can't tell you with any certainty at all. It might be the same, it might be better, it might be worse. It all is dependent on the amount of meds your doctor has you taking and how your body will react to it. Hopefully this is as bad as it will get for

you.. but you can expect at least more of the same. And if this is as bad as it gets, consider yourself lucky. I was in bed for the full 48 weeks. Never even made it out to my living room except for on Christmas. Somehow I managed to pull off Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people that year... No clue how I did it.. I do remember I started cooking on Sunday for Thursday. I think I pre-cooked one thing a day and we did the rest on Thanksgiving with lots of help. Hang in there... You did great this weekend with your first shot. Don't be surprised if this spot you are at now gets worse... it could. The Ribavirin is a pretty potent drug. But hopefully you've seen what it is going to do to you going forward. Hugs,Teri From: Lynne Wolfe <wolfeee99@...>hepatitis Sent: Sun, August 8, 2010 8:29:41 AMSubject: RE: [ ] Re: 1st shot

LynnI would say that your reaction is very wonderful; but, there is no normal or exceptions!! Literally, everyone is different.Usually, the first shot is the worst and since you came through it so very well - keep up the good work. As time goes on, you may just find that the fatigue and early to bed will become a general routine.I always allowed myself the whole weekend to hang out in my jammies. Honestly, I just felt that I owed myself that much, no matter how I felt. However, I did not have children and I am self employed, so there was no reason to put any stress on myself.I truly believe that you will have a pretty easy time of it, as long as you continue your diet and the hydration.Gloria
