Guest guest
Hi Gloria I have my own theorys about why I was told to use a condom to have sex. 1 - I was told by a small town GP's nurse. 2 - I believe she either hated men or was a lesbian, or both. [i assume this by how she acted towards me & my lady. I was treated like dirt, the nurse drooled over my lady.] 3 - It is a precaution, because doctors still are not 100% sure about the HCV/sex connection. I have saved some links here about this topic: http://health.dir./group/ /links/005___Sex_and_Hepatitis_001253470937/ and here: http://health.dir./group/ /links/HCV_transmission_001253422845/ Gloria, we have discussed this topic before in the group, altho not for awhile. For example, I suggested a scenero where one party has HCV, and the other party has an open Herpes sore. 1/6th of the population has Herpes, but few know they are infected. I also have Herpes. As we all know, it only takes one copy of the virus to infect another person, whatever the transmission route. So it makes good sence to me, that if there is even only a .001% chance, precautions should be concidered. And there is a growing body of evidence that traces of HCV can be found in things like saliva, tears, urine, mothers milk, etc, as stated in the 2nd link above. I personally have never practiced 'safe sex', prefering the natural approach. I used a condom once, and could feel nothing. It was not enjoyable. But any more it is always in the back of my mind....what if? I wouldnt want to give someone else HCV. I know thats not very realistic, but I cannot help it. The seed has already been planted in my mind.............gad. love don in ks DonI honestly do not know why your Dr would say no more sex!!! I sure was never told that one and I believe that a whole lot of people here would be having marriage problems like me, if that were true. What is true is that tx caused me to have almost no libido; but, I was also married to a man who's usual libido was almost dormant as well. He made excuses for himself, like suggesting that my weight bothered him etc. But, the truth was - he didn't have much left and his pride would never have allowed him to go and see a Dr. about it.Gloria
Guest guest
DonYet, how long had the horse been gone from the barn, before you got those warnings?? In other words, say you've had HepC for 30 yrs and didn't know it. Sounds like you had a pretty good sex life with your lady and that she certainly got tested and past with no hint.My husband had had a blood work panel just a year before I learned about my infection. We'd already been together about 15 yrs when all this blew up in my face. So, there was absolutely no reason for him to be tested nor concerned.Since I am single again; but, not totally dead when it comes to sex, I will have a harder time explaining some of this to any new man that might come along. But, I don't give it a whole lot of thought anyway because I'm not looking for anything long-term. I like my male friends just the way it is. I am not self-conscious about going places without the encumbrances of man. In fact, I'd just like to make sure that one of those guys, is not running from me because I'm free now. I like him a whole lot because of his gentle of giving me a hug when I'm hurtin!! He's probaby is about 6' 3" and his chest is made to make a womens feel very protective of her. Finally, the second 1/2 of my sleeping pills are making me dull and slow11Off to bed for ILuv to allGloria Hi Gloria I have my own theorys about why I was told to use a condom to have sex. 1 - I was told by a small town GP's nurse. 2 - I believe she either hated men or was a lesbian, or both.
