Guest guest
ny,You just amazed me. Look how far you've come.... you're having a rough time with your tx but you are encouraging others. Dude, that is awesome. That is what we do here. The fact that you have it in you to encourage , and by the way, I agree with what you said, going thru what you are going thru is tremendous. Hope you are feeling better... thinking this is shot day for you? Can't remember, thinking you take your shots on Fridays...?Hugs,Teri From: Barrett <barrjohnm@...> Sent: Thu, July 1, 2010 4:58:58 AMSubject: Re: [ ] Re: 's tx ,DO NOT QUIT TREATMENT!If you were negative at week 6, that means the treatment is working, and good! Now I don't know your situation on working, but have you looked at ALL options? could you take a leave of absence, go out some sort of assisitance to help out until you finish treatment?I know what you mean about the sides, I have had a very tough time while on treatment, and I had to stop working after even the first shot, that was so bad and has not let up there is no way I could work on treatment! I also wished the sies to the meds were not so tough to deal with, but they are.I was able to take a sick leave at work, pay was reduced a lot, but I make it due being poor (even had to go on food stamps). Killing the virus and getting my life back is the most important thing! At my work the money comes from a government contract, which ends soon, then I don't know what I will do. I feel very lucky as with these contracts you use it or loose it, and I have worked for my boss for 5 years, and he is the coolest guy in the world, and so he is really helping me in a huge way!! I have to make up the work one day, but that is when I get better!I feel lucky that I still have some money coming in for at least another month or so, so maybe I should not say anything, I just want you to think about how important it is to stay on treatment! My point is due whatever you need to do to stay on treatment, unless there are medical reason why you have to stop!ny
Guest guest
HI teri, thanks so much!yeah been having a rough time on the treatment, but I thought that I try to be encouraging! The treatment for me as been really tough, but it is working and will kill the dragon, only thing that matters is that! there is life after treatment and one that will be Hep C free, so unless there are med reasons for quitting, nobody should!I do the shots late Thursday night before bed.ny
Guest guest
ny,You are getting a taste of what your part you will take on when your tx is over and you are SVR. You are going to be a success story who helps others pull thru. How cool does that sound? Its a good feeling.I'm sorry the sides keep beating you up. The good news is that once you are done and clear you will look back at your experience and embrace it. Over time you will remember only that tx was rough and the gory details will fade just like the dragon. Are you managing to eat regularly? Are you drinking enough? Do I sound like a Mom? LOL! I get that was sometimes.Hang in there ny, you are doing great.Hugs and Aloha,TeriSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: Barrett <barrjohnm@...>Sender: Date: Sat, 3 Jul 2010 02:11:33 -0700 (PDT)< >Reply Subject: Re: [ ] Re: 's tx - ny HI teri, thanks so much!yeah been having a rough time on the treatment, but I thought that I try to be encouraging! Guest guest
Hi Beth,I am going to answer this in 2 ways(before and now). Before:I used to have to get the shots at the doctors office, mainly because I was too chicken at first to give it to myself. within hours, I don't know about 4 maybe it hit the fever, body aches you name it, it never really went away in the 9 weeks of treatment. Now:I take the shot before I know I will fall asleep at any minute as I don't want to live through one second of the sides that I don't have to. the next morning is hell, like a train wreck! Over the next few days things mellow out with the fever & chills.I have had really bad sides from the shots they usually last up into the next shot,The last shot(before this one) I felt okay the day of the next shot.Maybe your body has a delayed reaction, not sure, I know if I was awake I would most likely still feel it a few hours after the shot.Drink lots, and lots of water!!ny
Guest guest
Hi Teri, thanks so much!Yes It is very cool, I would like to be somebody that can help others, even if it is some advice to somebody, it is a cool feeling`-`Yeah I try and stay positive about the sides, keep thinking the pains are the dragon dying! Yes once it is all over and I clear, all the pain is worth it, nothing is more important to me right now than killing the dragon! I am doing a little better with eating, not great but baby steps, I have been eating little things more often. been drinking lots of water, and started with Gatorade too. I think that I am getting a bit better with eating. Does the nausea go away at some point?yeah I will be hanging in, and I have faith I will win the war and kill the dragon!ny
Guest guest
ny,At this stage in the game, your sides are not letting up so just look for that feel good window to start opening up. It will start as the morning you take your shot, then open up to the night before and then the afternoon before. At this point, it is what it is. My nausea never let up which is why I lost 100 pounds. I had my sides straight thru to the end when th good doc had me take my last shot on the Monday after my Friday shot. He stopped the Riba's at the same time but all that Interfuron had me in bed 24/7 for a good 2 weeks. So at this point, count your blessings. Your tx could be worse and you are killing that damn dragon. Just hang in there and you will get thru this. I promise. I know better than most how friggin hard this can be. My doc said that I had the worst sides he had ever seen in all his years of doing this. I had everything listed as a side from the manufacturer and then some. But I made it. And back then I had no idea these groups existed so it was me and my Hep C nurse for 50 weeks! Hang on, you are in better shape than you realize right now. While I was on tx, my husband played on a softball league with games on Thursday nites during the spring and summer and in the winter he was on a volleyball league with games every Wednesday night. As sick as I was, I never missed a game! And when I got out there, except for needing a vicodin or two during the softball games, I was okay. Getting out there and doing stuff or watching other people do stuff made it easier. I forgot about the sides when I was distracted by something else. My son was CONSTANTLY buying me video games that took my mind away from the pain and transported me wherever my Game Cube or Playstation or X-Box would take me! I played for hours on end and cussed at the games when I would get stuck! Find a diversion so you're not dwelling on how sick you are.Hugs from Gurnee,Teri Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: Barrett <barrjohnm@...>Sender: Date: Sat, 3 Jul 2010 21:35:19 -0700 (PDT)< >Reply Subject: Re: [ ] Re: 's tx - ny Hi Teri, thanks so much!Yes It is very cool, I would like to be somebody that can help others, even if it is some advice to somebody, it is a cool feeling`-`Yeah I try and stay positive about the sides, keep thinking the pains are the dragon dying! Guest guest
Hi Teri, thanks so much!!yeah that feel good window, for me it is thinking about pipeline on the North Shore! it helps me keep my mind of of things. I miss it so much! yeah I know what you mean the sides stay with you through the week, and sometimes the day of the shot you are feeling not so bad, then the cycle starts again! I realize it is what it is, the dragon is dying so that is what is important! I have had these sides from the first shot, and they don't seem to be letting up. The nausea for me is not going away either, which makes it hard to eat, but it could be worse I feel like throwing up, but rarely do, have only a few times.yes I do count my blessings, and I know my tx could be much worse, and hearing your story helps me think about this, well it could be so much worse! I don't know how you made it through!I am hanging in here, I might whine a bit, but nothing is making me quit, my doctor does not even ask me about that anymore! She used to ask all the time if I was planning to continue, I always said of course I am, why do you ask? She said most people with your sides quit. not me, If I am sick for a year and clear, it is so worth it!!yeah this treatment can be really hard, and you really now how hard it can be! These groups are really helpful tome, as it lets me talk to others about it you know what I am going through because they are too, or have done it in the past.that is a great idea to get out there and do something, to help get your mind off the sides!yeah to find something anything to get you mind off that I am sick is a great idea!thanks so much, I appreciate it!ny
