I need something that will knock me out.

As of this point I am stopping Ativan cold turkey.

I may need to take the Seroquel until my GP-doc gets me on something else.

I have to sleep.

Without this med, I just lay there and toss and turn for hours.

Then I wake up every 1/2 hour and do it all over again.

Now I need to work on food.

Havent eaten much at all for 5 days or so due to swelling and pain.

I am sick from lack of food and fluids.

I dont care what my normal labs, or the doc says.

I know sick when Im sick.

Im tired of the 'everything is fine, go home'.

They do coadminister them together and it is a moderate risk not high risk. They just are required to moniter you closer. The Seroquel can make you swell. Ativan can cause nausea, vomiting, constipation; appetite changes let your doc know this. I would not quit either one though until you okay it with the doc because that could cause severe problems with your body too Don. Can you break the Ativan in half? I know the ones we get at work are small. You don't want to go off it too fast with your body so used to it. It is not a drug your body should go too fast off from.

Hi

I am already off the Ativan.

I havent had any in 4-5 days.

Ive only taken one Seroquel in the same time, and that was at 6AM this morning so I could finally sleep.

I quit eating, drinking stuff, and swallowing pills because everything was causing me to be more bloated and hurt.

Funny, but I was starting to feel a bit better yesterday, than I do today after I took this last Seroquel.

My stomach is starting to hurt this evening again.

The trouble is that my shrink doesnt work with my GP or my Gastro doc.

My shrink knows nothing about HCV, and Im starting to doubt his knowledge of the headmeds he dishes out.

I will be talking with him about this.

Ive always told him Im doing fine - mentally - on the two headmeds.

I thought I was, and was very happy about it too.

I didnt connect my ab bloating and my pain to these meds, until I looked up Seroquel in the website RX list .com this morning, and read the sides.

Too late, I had already swallowed a Seroquel to sleep with.

Now tho, I am connecting the dots.

There are more sides with the Seroquel too, that potentually could kill me, or mess me up.

- Heart attacks....gee, I have CHF [congestive heart failure]? or do I?

- Headaches, back and body pain...gee, do I have Fibromyalgia? or not?

- Abdominal pain....gee, I have acid reflux? I take Prevacid daily and Rolaids too.

- Upset stomach and nausea...I have to take Reglan occasionally.

- AST/ALT increased...hummmmm, isnt that what my last HCV labs said?

- Anxiety....whoa, do I have PTSD? or not?

- Depression, anger, suicide thoughts. Yep. Sometimes.

- Respiratory problems....wait, dont I have COPD? or do I? [i do smoke.]

- Skin rashes....yep, got those too.

- Stomach bloating and peripheral edema....this is what made me read about the Seroquel sides.

I have been experiancing swelling since last year when I went on the Seroquel-Ativan combo.

The other sides didnt click in my head until I read about them.

Now my health issues are starting to fall into place maybe.

Perhaps Im not suffering all these major health issues as DX'd by my GP's over the years.

Maybe I just stumbled on an answer that I have been mis-DX'd.

I am alergic to so many things - antibiotics, and lots more.

Perhaps these drugs are making me have issues too.

I might be in that 1-10% that shouldnt be on them.

Now, Im not saying that all this is so, but it is worth looking at real hard.

It is also one of the things I am going to discuss seriously with my GP on wednesday.

I will do the ab imaging tomarrow, but I expect them to tell me it looks 'normal', once again.

My sleep issue I think is going to be a problem with my GP.

He has prescribed lots of stuff for me already....even narcotics.

I hate to ask for yet another drug, but I need to sleep, and I dont want to take the Seroquel anymore.

I am spooked now, but I am being careful too, and checking stuff out.

Can you tell my mind is racing? LOL :-)

Hey Don,

Looks like you may have a big answer to many things. Wouldn’t

that be amazing !

Side effects can do nasty stuff, and sometimes are worse than

the problem they are treating, especially with those type you are taking.

I haven’t met many docs who know anything about side

effects, and generally ignore the issue. But if you feel better without the

drugs, trust yourself. I have had neurological problems from side effects

from drugs, and from the fillers in some supplements. I even had a potentially

fatal side effect from the additive in insulin – and the doc denied it

happened. So…trust yourself here.

If you do have troubles with withdrawl or anything, there are

many alternative psych groups that deal with those issues, and may be able to

make some suggestions for other sleep aids, such as melatonin.

Yeah I guess I would definitly be spooked too. Well if you are feeling better already off of them then that is good. I was just afraid it would mess with you coming off of them but I can see it didn't. You sound like some serious gerd or IBS problems are flaring too possibly on top of it all. It is not the cause of it it just might be something happening because of the rest. I am so careful when I take my list of meds in to all the other docs that have me but they still mess up and give me stuff I should not have together. I just have the gastra doc check them and if she says no I tell the doc in Kansas City no. He then trys again to find something else. Well better get to bed. I have been all night with a very sick man. He has the flu or something. Doing blood sugars and vitals and he was getting sick on and on. I hope

I don't get it. It wasn't like I could just leave him. I was the only one there. Even when the other one came in this morning she is not trained to do anything like Blood sugars or the cma stuff. I was able to bring his blood pressure down from over 200/ 75 to 149/59. Whew. He was really having trouble. Got another one sent to the VA hospital for testing this morning and tried to get most of breakfast ready too. So good night ladies and gents. Heading to bed. Love you all. Cinder

We have had one lady on Ativan now for over 10 years. She takes it three times a day. They use it for behaviors in her. She used to really throw huge anxiety fits. The other man I have on it he only takes it PRN and that is for anxiety. Then one other for anxiety also. So we have both PRN and regular useage. Just depends on the doc I guess. They don't usually like to keep a person on it unless they absolutely feel they need it. Cinder
