I'm am very shakey and feel like shit but at least I have one shot down and only 47 to go. I have read some of the emails, Cinder you are going to be OK. Guest guest
Oooops - just had another memory!!!How about going through the change of life at the same time as tx??? Wasn't that ever a treat!!! I lucked in and picked up one of those litter back and forth desk fans from Wal-Mart that worked like crazy!! I used it all through the winter and the spring of that treatment. So then thoughts that I sometimes should have my head examined over come into play. Nah, the tx actually had likely stopped the hot flashes; because, I suffered them all the following year as well. Well, I'm grateful that they were definitely over while on the 2nd treatment.Gloria Jane,The puking will stop. It really will. Your body didn't like the drugs and was trying to get rid of them.... Too bad it didn't work! They are still in your system. On shot days I made sure I ate really light and no more than 4 hours before the shot. You probably feel like you have the worst case of the flu you've ever had right now... that too will pass. Just rest like crazy, drink and much as you possibly can, water, gatorade, juices, juices mixed with water.... and rest some more. It won't always be as bad as this first shot was. The hours of worship to the porcelain goddess will stop, quickly. I think I only did that for the first shot. I had even forgotten about it. My most horrible symptom was the chills.... in August.... when it was 100 degrees outside. Hang in there sweetheart, you really are going to be fine. We're all right here, I promise.Do you have a glass of something that you are drinking right now? More important today than ever since you've been throwing up!Hugs.... I know you need one...TeriFrom: Jane <janes6749 (DOT) com> Sent: Sat, June 19, 2010 7:12:08 AMSubject: [ ] Survived first shot Hi everyone, Took first dose meds yesterday, the first hour was oh boy I'm going to breeze through this, NOT. Guest guest
I am so sorry to see that the first shot made you sick. I never threw up while on TX. I was just nausious all the time. I would take a bit of food to take my pill with and that is all I could get down. It did get somewhat better as my body adjusted to the meds. My first few shots just knocked me out " flu " symtoms that kept me in bed. That to lessened as the weeks went by. I had a lot of side effects but non that I could not tolerate or find something to help with them. Most of my help I found in support groups like this one. I also went threw " the change of life " while on TX. Now that was not a joy ride ! I used to do the necked dance infront of the AC when the Hot spells from TX & Manapause would hit. Now that I have been off TX for over a year the hot flashes come on stronger and more often. I guess making up for lost time. So TX and Manapause was a double wammie ... so hang in there .. YOU can do it !! Just take to heart all the helpful hints that people here pass your way. > > Oooops - just had another memory!!! > > How about going through the change of life at the same time as tx??? Guest guest
Oh Jane, I was praying for better than that. But it's encouraging that Teri says that only happened to her the first shot. I like your attitude - only 47 more to go. Did you do the shot seperate from the Ribavirin? Did you notice any diffeernce in the sides between the two drugs? Be good to yourself, Jane. Do whatever your body tells you to. I don't remember if you said you have some physical support people around you. It sounds like you should have someone close by to help you if you are going to be sick. I'm so glad that you started Tx. One day at a time. One week at a time. My next shot is Monday and that will be a whole month already! I can't believe it. I'm getting a message that you want to add me to your IM friend list. I said yes and I filled out the information but now I am on my online friend list with a little smiley face and the message that you want me to accept your invitation is still coming up. I'm sure this sounds ridiculous but I'm not a very techie kinda girl!!! I'd rather just send personal e-mails back and forth. OK? So, my email is truthseeker103@.... Guest guest
Here's another very important thing for any of you that have just started or about to start treatment. It is highly recommended that you all do as close as possible to 12 hours apart. So say you usually take your morning pills at 7:00AM then the evening pills should be at 7:00PM..My personal experience from the two treatments was there was no difference whether I had just swallowed the Riba and then taken my shot! Actually, I still usually don't get up in the morning until 9:00AM so between that and 9:30, I would have taken my Riba, so my next pills would be the same or close in the evening. Then every Friday night I was used to giving myself the shot between 10:00PM or 11:00PM. However, the four months that I took the Protease Inhibitors really threw every thing for a loop; because they have to be taken 3 times a day and again, it's important to taken them 8 hours apart!!But, it's really important to get into a really set routine with the Riba, because later on, when the brain fog really sets in - you'll already be in a routine and it won't be so hard to remember to take them then.Gloria Oh Jane, I was praying for better than that. Guest guest
Gloria you are so right on that one... I forgot all about the timing of the pills... damn brain fog.. That and it's been 4 years since I got thru with tx. I was taking 14 riba a day... So he had me taking them every 8 hours. I was like clockwork with taking my meds while on tx.. I had one of those pill boxes that had sections for 3 times a day and it went a week out. So on Sunday's I'd fill the thing up for the week. Now, after the 48 weeks of being so regimented on the timing of my meds, I went thru a phase where I didn't take anything at all. I would just forget. Stopped using that 3 times a day box and it all went to hell. I still have issues remembering to take my normal meds every day. The doctors always used to yell at me about that too! But I was great on tx.Teri From: Gloria <gadamscan@...> Sent: Sun, June 20, 2010 1:36:45 AMSubject: Re: [ ] Re: Survived first shot Here's another very important thing for any of you that have just started or about to start treatment. Guest guest
Just at the moment, I'm having to adjust to a new routine. After the tx, I had pills on the little table where I would do my hair in the morning. Then, the night ones were always right beside my computer. Now here in the trailer, they all sit up on top of the fridge and so I have to force myself to remember them. However, at least there is nothing there that is life threatening if I don't remember. Guest guest
Thanks Jane, That is something I needed to hear. Right now I feel work is getting to be worse than that shot or tx will be. lol. 22 hours was insane on Mon. I went in at 7pm on Monday night and did not get off till Tuesday at 5pm. The girl who was to come in calls in to say she was waiting on an insurance adjuster to call about her car. Well I did some investigating with a girl who lived across the street from her. She had already had her car fixed. She lied just because she did not want to work. The boss could not find anyone to take my place. There was no one. She also did not have another med aide to pass meds where I was either. Even when I left she had no one to pass meds the rest of that day. Her mom who runs the nursing home she lives in the basement of was off on vacation. No one who wasn't working would answer their phones. So I was stuck. The one girl who relieved me at 5 pm had worked since 6 am said she was tired and almost said no to relieving me so I could get some sleep so I could come back in and work the night that same night. I had to be back in at 12 midnight and work till 8am. My dog needed out to potty. My parrot needed feeding. I needed sleep. When I went back was still so tired. I sat down realized no tv. The cable was down. So sat in the chair and fell asleep til 5am. Did not mean to just happened. I never do that. I felt so bad. At least none of my wanderers decided to leave. Thank God for that. I sure hope you have a better time with the rest of your shots and meds.
