Guest guest
Hi Gloria, yeah if you go to the market here you might have a heart attack, or think they are kidding right. I could go on and on on the price of everything here, so expensive!! Yes drinking milk, having bread is hard for me to afford, as I can't afford it, and the yogurt is oh god so much!! I eat things now I can, milk & yogurt is a lifesaver for me now, so I just get it no matter the price. The Hawaiians & locals hate the tourist, but it is the only economy here really so if no tourists Hawaii becomes bankrupt overnight, and everybody knows that, so I think it is a love/hate relationship. I never go where the tourist go so I have no issues with them, I think it is cool they come here and have fun`-`ny From: Gloria <gadamscan@...> Sent: Thu, July 15, 2010 6:42:01 PMSubject: [ ] Bread & Milk If I was able to buy (4 litres) of milk for 2.35 or 2.85, I would honestly fall over feeling faint. In fact, I would be checking the date and wonder if the time was up yesterday and the store was just trying to catch an idiot. A loaf of bread here would be on sale to be 99cents and barely beyond it's date either. However, it's I feel sorry for!!! How could you possibly afford to drink milk or eat bread - actually, if milk and bread is that high - other food must be ridiculous. The Hawaiians must hate the whole tourist industry???Gloria I paid 2.35 this morning for milk and a loaf of bread was 99 cents. That was whole wheat bread. I have been drinking ensure on those days when I just can't eat. they are so expensive though, in Hawaii anyway, but with milk $8.00/gallon and bread $5.00/loaf I guess I should not be surprised!Tuna there is an idea, I will try that.Spam sucks, I hate it, the most gross meat on the planet!! Yeah I hear Hawaii is the biggest consumer of spam, it is everywhere here, not for me!thanks,ny From: Theresa Gottlieb <theresagottlieb> Sent: Wed, July 14, 2010 3:53:59 PMSubject: Re: [ ] veggie diet? No protein in veggies ny. Eggs are total protein. Get some of those Ensure drinks or even Slim Fast drinks, you'll actually get a lot of what you need in those. If you opt for the Slim Fast, use them in combination with foods and drink them just like you would a regular drink, not in place of a meal. What about tuna? Or some of that great mahi mahi you have out there. Spam even... I know they use a lot of spam in Hawaii, the stuff grosses me out though! Hi,I ate meat yesterday for the first time yesterday in so long. My friend at school(where my Pysc doc is) brought me a plate lunch, a Thanksgiving style meal. a few pieces of the roasted turkey and mashed potatoes made me feel so sick. I only ate very little of it, I now threw the rest out!I am thinking about just going veggie style from now on, well besides the fruits. I think veggies have protein in them too?ny
Guest guest
I can understand where the locals are coming from. I'm originally from , BC Canada and every year when they start to bring out the double-decker buses and the horse drawn wagons - we all want to puke. Those things tie up traffic so bad, that that 15 min spin through the downtown core had just become at least 1/2 hr. However, just don't get behind one that is headed for the ritzy neighbourhood. Those damn buses and carts just don't do hills very good at all. LOLGloria Hi Gloria, yeah if you go to the market here you might have a heart attack, or think they are kidding right. Guest guest
yeah when the tourist come to the North Shore, the 10 minute drive to the other beaches can take 2 hours. this only happens during big swells, so still it would always sucked.johnny From: Gloria <gadamscan@...> Sent: Sat, July 17, 2010 4:54:00 PMSubject: Re: [ ] Bread & Milk I can understand where the locals are coming from.
