Guest guest
Hi Jane,I can so relate to what you are saying drinking is easy, but eating is not so much. It sucks as we want to eat, but just can't. I started the protein shakes yesterday, don't know why I never thought of them, but at least now when I can't eat I will get protein.11 pounds this week, that is a lot. I only lost 4. the doctor says she is concerned as I lost about 20 pounds since treatment in 2 months ago.for me the shakes somes with the chills and being cold, I think it is all due to the fever thing going on. Best of luck on shot #2, and I hope the sides are less. I would have said(most people do) that the first shot is the worst, but my worst was shot 7. Yeah each shot we give means one less!! yes it is all worth it!! I know the sides suck, I have have bad ones since starting and they never really let up, but at the end when we clear the virus it is so worth it!!best of everything,ny
Guest guest
Hi ny, So glad to hear you are doing better. I took 2nd shot 9 hours ago and so far I feel ok, it's like I am sitting here waiting for the moment of bonding time with the big ceramic bowl again. Maybe the difference this time is one hour before I took 2 tylenol, drank a huge real fruit and veggie smoothie with a scoop of protein powder, ate crackers loaded with peanut butter and oh made sure my barf patch was in place. Couldn't sleep so I made good use of that time drinking, drinking and drinking some more. 2 down, 46 to go! Guest guest
Hi Jane, thanks!glad you got shot #2 done`-` do you inject in your stomach it is the only place I have the nerve too. It is good to take tylenols and get some food in you too before the shot. do you use ambient or some sleeping aid? I find it much better to sleep through the sides as much as possible.great that you got some food down before the shot, it will help. I always try to have some yogurt at least before the shot myself. Also, drink, lots and lots of water to, I mean at least a gallon!usually for me the sides hit within a few hours after, so if you are 9 hours in that is good, I hope you wake up with little or no sides from the shot! I used to have the doctor give the shot as I was too scared to do it, but it was always at 8 in the morning, now I make sure I am half a sleep from sleeping pills as I know in a few hours it is going to be bad, so I do the shot before bed!best of luck,ny
Guest guest
Hi ny, I give the shots myself in my leg. My doc put me on B12 injections about six months ago, once a week also, I do those in the stomach. During my labs it was discovered that I have very low B12 which my doc said was very common with HepC. My energy level was "0", but since starying the B12 injections it is so much better. With everything going on and my brain fog I had forgotten the B12 injections for the past couple weeks, took that yesterday also, think that why not able to sleep tonight. Guest guest
NO to the Tylenol.... bad for your liver... use Aleve or Ibuprofen or straight aspirin if you have to. The Tylenol is toxic to your liver and will effect your viral load count in a negative way.... Tylenol can increase your viral load by 2 million, it's temporary but if you get blood drawn while it's up like that, not a good thing.TeriFrom: Barrett <barrjohnm@...> Sent: Sun, June 27, 2010 5:58:27 AMSubject: Re: [ ] Eating while on TX??? Guest guest
TeriTylenol was still the only OTC pain killer I could or can use to this day. I'm just really careful that I actually really need to take them or can a glass of water actually fix what is wrong. Again, you have to be really abusing them, for them to hurt your liver that much. Aspirin of any kind burns in my stomach like I have an ulcer. Ibuprofen is worse for my blood pressure than tylenol is for the liver. Also, I have always questioned taking script meds for pain anyway. I'd have to want to do a whole lot of research before I'd take them. However, when the Fibro is really getting impossible - even my Dr. says it's OK to take a couple of Advil Liquid Gels.I'm sure I've said this more than a few times on here. If my pain from the Fibro becomes more intolerable, I'd rather get a script for medical marijuana!! I didn't even like the stuff in the 70's and can barely tolerate the smell of the stuff they use today; but, I'll do it before pain meds.Gloria NO to the Tylenol.... bad for your liver... use Aleve or Ibuprofen or straight aspirin if you have to. Guest guest
I had a ton of those knots... I think they were more from the... oh heck, brain fog, what do you call that stuff that they give you to boost your blood cells? It was something you had to draw up in a syringe and inject under the skin... can't remember the name of it for the life of me. But I remember it was expensive.Teri... damn that's gonna drive me nuts.. what is that stuff called? I hate brain fog. Guest guest
HI,I guess I have more fat in my stomach, and the shots just work for me there, I switch sides every week. the leg scares me, not know why, it just does!I don't know anything about B12, but if you your doc said you are low, then you should do that. I did not know that B12 vitamins were injections.I should ask about this as my energy level is usually zero too.the meds for Hep C cause insomnia, if I don't take the ambient(which I don't like) I am up the whole night!best of luck,ny
Guest guest
Gloria I don't want to bragg to soon but so far, nausea but no vomiting. I thought with the first shot I ate and drank plenty but , obiviously not, maybe what helped this time was the IV fluids my doc gave me the day before along with the 2.5 gallons I drank each day and eating as much fruits, veggies and protien as I can. So far I am nauseated but I think the patch the doc gave me has helped control, he told me to wear those 24 hours and use the pills also if needed. Still feel weak, shakey and the worst this time is a rash that started yesterday. Jane From: Gloria <gadamscan@...> Sent: Sun, June 27, 2010 8:32:00 PMSubject: Re: [ ] Eating while on TX??? Guest guest
Ya; but, I've heard the horror stories from down there too. Don't know if it happens here - haven't heard yet. A Dr. may well prescribe medical mj; but, as soon as the patient gets to talk with a transplant specialist, they are turned down because they are classified as being on drugs. Now, doesn't that just put the cherry on top!!! I wonder who is on the top of that list for playing God??? That's a question I'll have to ask my surgeon if I ever get to see him.GloriaFrom: Teri Gottlieb <theresagottlieb@...> Sent: Sun, June 27, 2010 10:12:41 PMSubject: Re: [ ] Eating while on TX??? The Tylenol is toxic to your liver and will effect your viral load count in a negative way.... Tylenol can increase your viral load by 2 million, it's temporary but if you get blood drawn while it's up like that, not a good thing.

Guest guest
Never thought of it that way Gloria.... Guess that's just cause I've never had that transplant mentality. I got lucky with tx and a transplant was only mentioned twice. Once before I started tx that if I didn't do tx that would be a likely scenario at some point down the road, and again during tx when my doc told me that if I hadn't done tx I would have been on the transplant list within 6 months and I would have died waiting for a liver. I hadn't thought of the interactions with the medical mj and the possibilities for a transplant..... got me thinking. And yeah that is kinda messed up.Hugs from Gurnee,TeriFrom: Gloria <gadamscan@...> Sent: Wed, June 30, 2010 9:35:29 PMSubject: Re: [ ] Eating while on TX??? Ya; but, I've heard the horror stories from down there too. Don't know if it happens here - haven't heard yet. A Dr. may well prescribe medical mj; but, as soon as the patient gets to talk with a transplant specialist, they are turned down because they are classified as being on drugs. Now, doesn't that just put the cherry on top!!! I wonder who is on the top of that list for playing God??? That's a question I'll have to ask my surgeon if I ever get to see him.GloriaFrom: Teri Gottlieb <theresagottlieb> Sent: Sun, June 27, 2010 10:12:41 PMSubject: Re: [ ] Eating while on TX???
