Guest guest
I wouldn't be able to breath at temperatures like that and I sure wouldn't be out golfing. Heat stroke alone would kill me. At least we have the sea breeze to keep it a bit cooler than that. My breaking point is 100 and we are far from that yet. When that hits, think I'll just run me and the dog over to the cousins and their air conditioning.I love your idea about the dandelions!!! The owner here would probably love that. But, he mows that field so often that it doesn't seem that the dandelions really grow. Besides, it's time for everyone here to be on water restrictions anyway. I know at home, we never water the scrub grass and dandelions. Now our forest fire alert is almost at maximum, so that means no fires, even in a fire pit. Yet, the mountains had so much snow last winter that the damn won't be able to hold back from releasing a whole bunch of water now. Always did strike us all funny that the Winter Olympics were held across the straight, just north of Vancouver and they actually had to bring snow in from further inland. While, all that time, our own mountain here was having one of it's finest years. Yet, not a soul here in the Valley would have wished that we were hosting those Olympics. The cost to get an event like that up and going is absolutely incredible and a lot of Canadians are still mad about it. All that money for the Olympics when our health care is in dire need of some input. Better yet, the school systems have had their budgets cut to the bone and it's up to the parents to provide a whole lot of things that were never required before. In fact, it really harms the kids because not all parents can afford what those requirements are and so their is the pooh folks and the other folk making the kids feel the class difference.Gloria Hey, Gloria, if you get tired of chasing whiffle balls and bending over to pick 'em up, try eyeing a dandelion or some small wildflower, addressing it and just slide your club head across it. Great practise , let's you focus on your swing, not distance and brings new meaning to " weedeating"! BTW, I always use a cart except on a short par three and even then I use a wheel cart to carry my clubs. I ain't no pack mule !! What do you call unbearably hot?? The heat index( " feels like") today was 118; actual temp 103. That's why Hubby played golf with a buddy, not me! And he is sun burned! Can't tell 'em anything, except" Told ya So".
