Guest guest
Pat, J has been doing pretty good. J was suppose to start the day program on July 1st but they are having problems getting his money thing thru the DDA up and running. I went in there today and got "tough" with them and said Look! We have been working for 3 months to get J use to the new place he is going(Awakeings) and now you are delaying it! And I have to have J up and running before Aug 19th because I go back to work then. She said she will find out what is going on and get back this week. They called at the end of the day and left me a message telling me to call them tomorow. Betty is still at the hosp......We are still waiting to find out were she will go. Lois Re: Lois
Guest guest
I know that is so frustrating!! This is 20 days later and they haven't gotten it done. Well, now that you have gotten "tough" hopefully they will get things done before you have to go back to work. Is this upsetting J? Bless his heart. Guest guest
Pat, J LOVES being off! haha! I got a "call" today.......They have things "worked" out for J! haha! I was known as the "mom from Hell" at the BOE..........I guess I have to be like that for his adult planning now. They know I have a history of being tough. I ran the ASA here for 13 years. I see Senator Munson tomorow to talk about adults getting more services. Betty will at least be in the Hosp for a few more days and the social worker there is working with me to try and get her at a place that will be best for her. Guest guest
Oh, that is so precious that they put pigtails in her hair and that she was eating. She is so blessed to have you take care of her. I know, my sister was about that far away from me, and I was only able to see her once a week. I was always concerned that they were not feeding her. It was too hot for karac and I to ride bikes today. What is the weather where you live? Guest guest
Wow, what great weather!! We have been having over 100 degrees here is Dallas. We will just have to enjoy swimming until the Fall. Our gas prices have been coming down a little; I paid 2:15 the last time I filled up. What are you paying. Got to run Ayden (grandbaby) is crying. Guest guest
Hi So glad that the stimulator has helped you so much. I disagree with you on one point. You are an inspiration. Just like you got support from the group, you are now giving it back to the group. That's what this group is all about. We are all here to support and encourage each other. By telling your story, you give hope to others who might not otherwise go for the implant. I feel like you. I'll tell my story a thousand times, no a million times, to help others. I'll shout it from the rooftops if I have to. LOL. I'm surprised that you didn't have a trial first. Here, they always do a trial first They don't implant the trial, they tape it to your body. I guess different places do things differently. I'm  just so glad that it worked for you so that they didn't have to remove it. Continue to have a speedy recovery. Remember to follow instructions. As you start to feel stronger, and get better, it's easy to want to do to much. Sue C ________________________________ From: velria <radiant.salubrity@...> Stimulator Sent: Monday, September 7, 2009 7:21:50 PM Subject: Lois  Hi Lois, You have every reason to feel nervous. It's a new procedure which they really don't give alot of information out about. Until I found this group I was alot like yourself. I had severe pain in my hips, lower back. Sciatic pain down both legs and my left leg was pins and needles from the foot to halfway up the shin. I never had a trial. My doctor just implanted the permanent one straight up. Because of all the back operations that I have already had done, he said if it's going to work it will, and we don't have to take you back an re-operate. If it doesn't work, we just take it out and it's like having the trial done anway. So I was lucky that i have a doctor that was probably willing to take a punt. But the I had also tried several other forms of medication as well. Where as before I used to get about 2 hours sleep of a night time, mainly because of the pain, I am now getting close to between 4 & 5 hours sleep. I already feel a heap better. When I go for my walk now, my hips actually move with me. And they are almost pain free. It's beautiful Lois. They'd have to shoot me now to get the implant away from me!! For the 1st 6 - 8 weeks of having the permanent one implanted. Yu aren't allowed to do too much. This is because they want the leads to scar into place. No stretching, bending, twisting, lifting anything over 3kg's. It's very important that you follow what they tell you. I'm allowed to drive short distances as well if I want to. The trouble is Lois, what works for one person may not work for another. So I can't honestly tell you it's going to work. But as my doctor said it works for 75% to 95% of all people. That's not bad stats when you think about it. That sounds right only spending one night in hospital for a trial one to be fitted. My Aunty has just had a trial one fitted. She has had no feeling at all in her right leg for 18 months due to mining accident, within 5 hours of having the trial one fitted, she was getting feeling back in that leg. I certainly don't think I'm an inspiration Lois. If I can help someone like yourself just by talking about it then that makes me happy. I'm more than honoured that you let me help you. I hope I've answered the questions you asked so you understand it from my side. If not let me know and I'll give it another shot. Guest guest
Lois,You and J have been on my mind and in my heart and prayers. I know how hard that is. I remember when we weaned Karac off of the Geodon; rather what I went through when DIL just jerked him off of it cold turkey. Actually, Karac has done so much better without the meds. He still has meltdowns, but really not that often. I had one scary one with him a year ago, but only one brief one since. I think about meds sometimes for Karac when has a problem with him, but then I think that he is a young man and I don't think any med is going to prevent him from getting upset sometimes. Just know that I am praying for you every day. Love and blessings, Pat K Re: Hard morning e, I hope he feels better soon.
