Guest guest
It is highly recommended on treatment small meals several times a day !! Lots of times even at the worst of the meds (the weekend for me) I don't have the energy to eat and although I might think I'm hungry, as soon as I start, I'm full. However, this does not mean that I experience one ounce of weight loss. I have a lot to loose and in the beginning, dropped 20 lbs which I had hoped was the beginning of a wonderful experience. But, it stopped there and has not moved one iota. Also, I don't experience the "normal" hunger pangs. Trouble is, I can so easily forget to eat anything and then suddenly I'm away over hungry and already gone to the shaky stage that happens to me. Then the only thing I can do is get some peanut butter into me to ward off the hypoglycemia.Gloria http://search. / search?ei= utf-8 & fr=slv8-tyc7 & p=appetite%20% 2b%20hepatitis% 20C & type= Hi everyone I have noticed that I am experiancing a 'loss of appetite'. Guest guest
Hi Gloria This is what happens to me too. I dont 'feel' hungry, forget to eat, and then its a rush to put something in me, and then I sleep. I try to watch out for this cycle. My hypoglycemia is usually just on the borderline; but, that's what happens, especially back in my early recovery, if I ever tried to have a chocolate bar to get past that hunger. Guest guest
Nah - looks to me like you are just over the line and that was probably just that day or at least at that moment. Sure nothing to worry about for sure.Well, I'm off to Vancouver tomorrow for the CT Scan. Someone finally told me that these scans are nothing, so don't have to worry about taking extra "calm" me down pills. Just the drive in Vancouver and especially with my mother along, will do enough to my stress level. That's why we decided to go over in the earlier afternoon tomorrow and try to beat any rush hour traffic on those lousy bridges and with all the road work being done to get ready for the Olympics. You know, I don't remember any level of the government asking me if I wanted to fork over my taxes and take a cut in health care etc. etc. just to host some Olympic Games here. Still going to find it hilarious, if in fact we are into an El Nino and don't get enough snow. Then, it'll just cost us thousands and thousands of $$ more to make snow for the show. They tell me that there are something like 8 countries already up on our mountain here, getting ready and yet we sure don't have any snow yet. I guess it's just acclimatizing!! I live almost straight across the water from the mountain where those Olympics will be.Gloria Hi Gloria Is GLUCOSE different than blood sugar levels? Guest guest
during the tx, I only ate if someone placed food already prepared , before I could smell it or think about it in front of me, I was hungry all the time, bit if i smelled food i got nasious. This was hard in the beginning as I was alone, as it worsened my daughter moved from Fl. to Md to help me. She cooks a lot of spanish foods, (rice and beans) with tons of garlic! if I ate that stuff i had energy. She would sometimes just set a [late down beside me and i would pick foir a while. If we all had a bedside nurse LoL this rx thing would not be as hard. One day I showed the Drs at work my bloodwork during tx. the one said , this cant be yours, you couldnt be standing here working, then the other says so pittifully I just wish you didnt have to work while you are going through this. HMMM Me too!! I guess I say that to show all of us that we ARE stronger than we could ever imagine we would need to be. My appetite came back with a vengence after tx I was like a human trash can. Not good and not recomended, as i gained all that weight back, The one side affect I wanted to keep lol. Like Gloria said eat small meals frequently. I guess its easier for our liver to process small portions. I believe in prayer and would never push my beleifs onto anyone, but if anyone is interested I think we could set a time aside to all pray together for all of us, as i also believe there is power in numbers and the more of us praying together for the same purpose cant hurt anyone. Guest guest
hey Don and Gloria, Gloria is right that your sugar looked good then. There is two problems with blood sugar, Hyper glycemia and Hypo glycemia one is too much and one is too little sugar. The liver not processing foods will cause a fluctuation of our levels, both up and down. its extremely important to eat something, once during tx i could not eat for about three days, well that landed me in the hosp. with BG of 300. Thats stroke material, I was shocked and never thought sugar only thought it was the tx. The Dr said it was caused by starvation. I was not purposly starving myself but that was the results of my not wanting to or able to tolerate foods then. Gloria , boy if we could get the attention of the olympics!! I think we are all as strong as the athletes we just have to use our energy ro live. Are you counting down the weeks yet?Best regards Betty From: Christ <ludichrist2000@...> Sent: Tue, October 6, 2009 12:46:16 AMSubject: Re: [ ] appetite + hepatitis C Hi Gloria Sounds like youve been watching FOX news. lol I go to the GP tomarrow for my weekly heart check-up. Guest guest
Hi Pam I have been on prevacid for years. Got a lifetime case of GERD [acid reflux]. Ive learned a few things from it to keep me from suffering so much. 1 - Dont eat and then lay down. Give yourself at least an hour sitting up. 2 - Dont lay on your right side. For some reason that aggrevates the condition. 3 - Stay away from spicey, and ALL fried foods. 4 - Rolaids works pretty good, but relief doesnt last long. 5 - Stress causes GERD sometimes. 6 - Yogurt helps. Dairy does not. My Dad told me that Gerd is because one doesnt have enough Hydrocloric Acid. I never checked this out. It always seemed to me I had too much. http://search./search?ei=utf-8 & fr=slv8-tyc7 & p=acid%20reflux%20diet & type= Pam, your not just a student in the group....your a teacher too. Guest guest
Pam, Thats excellent news, as im sure you know the goal on tx is to be not detectable at 24 weeks, knowing you have done it sooner than that is so promising to others contemplating treatment. Well i felt like I had the flu LOL no really the Flu LOL, i went to the doc today she did a nasal swab and said i have been exposed to the dreaded swine flu. I never know if I really have the flu or just the nornal sides of hepc. She says Oh the vaccine was just released here today, TOO LATE, im not realy that sick, I felt worse on a good day of tx. They put me on ab's and said to isolate myself from the world for 7 days. I works with Drs. (Vets though) It was so weird when i told them, everyone walks around holding their breath they started to disinfect big time. Even though its done everyday anyway?? I could not help but say to them all as I left for a week , I find it bizarre that all of you are not afraid to work with me knowing I have a bloodborn virus but OMG dont get the flu! I know its because of the risk of exposure is different but I , feeling contagious anyway, now know im contagious just by breathing. This too shall pass. So as for me and the vaccine, ,too late. But on the brighter side once its gone in about 5 days they say i wont get it again this year. Hey ill prob lose a couple lbs this week. Guest guest
Pam Thanks, and Im actually fine, i think the Dr is just being over precautious, following cdc guidelines. I know that work is only concerned they dont want to get sick, they actually called when I got home and said if I want to come in and work and WEAR A MASK that I can do that, The one docs brother is a pharmacist at St phs, he said the iso period is 3 days for the medical profession (Human) and from his experience the most at risk are pregnant women. I dont want to infect anyone else so I guess i'll be a bum for 3 days. Yeah I agree, I need to get the flu over with so i am able to start treatment again if offered. I am not really feeling too bad, Thanks for your genuin concern. I have always had this to some extent, but there were peroids when I got the munchies so bad that I couldnt eat enough. Now its different. Now I dont care if I eat or not. Im not experiancing the normal 'hunger pangs'. I eat by will power alone it seems, and my meals are small. I have no nausea with eating or not. I am not on TX. I was wondering about other peoples experiances who have HCV on this topic. I know that this is one of the side effects of having HCV. Is it maybe because my belly is swollen, thus I 'feel' full? How about those of you who are on TX? How has your eating habits changed? love don in ks The new Internet Explorer® 8 - Faster, safer, easier. Optimized for Get it Now for Free! Guest guest
BettyI start week 35 tomorrow, so only 13 more to go - I hope!! Nope, I'm sure not going to stress about results during the Olympics! They probably still won't tell me anyway because of it being a Clinical. Actually, they would have to say something if they all of a sudden decided that I should carry on - there is some kind of thinking that we 1b's have so much trouble that perhaps another 24 weeks would finish it off. It's just a rumour though that came from my sister-in-law that has apparently just finished her clinical and finally asked what stage her liver was in at the beginning. So, I don't take much on faith with her.Actually, sent her an e-mail recently asking her to respect my wishes for her not to be passing on any information about me and particularly with my step-son and his wife. When passing on third party type of info it has a habit of being totally misunderstood.Gloria Gloria, Good to hear from you, you sound like I was during treatment, your right the resullt are what they are If not going does not affect your tx then they can wait, dont stress yourself. I remember one day at work i think about week 38 maybe i was so miserable, still able to work part time though, i lost a peice of paper that someone needed. OMG not the end of the world , i was nornally disfuctionally organized, well al i could do was cry like a fool. How many more weeks do you have?? Just think of the outcome!!! betty From: Gloria <gadamscan (DOT) ca> Sent: Thu, October 8, 2009 12:39:31 AMSubject: Re: [ ] appetite + hepatitis C Betty - after another trip to Vancouver and this one an overnighter - you bet I'm just thrilled about the Olympics (NOT). They still have a huge load of roadwork to complete before it starts and I'm just so glad that after I go over again in two weeks. I'll force the Clinic to not make me come over during the Olympics. If they can't do the end of treatment blood work before they start then they can wait!!! I'll either be a SVR or an NR so who cares when I hear about that???Gloria hey Don and Gloria, Gloria is right that your sugar looked good then. Are you counting down the weeks yet?Best regards Betty From: Christ <ludichrist2000> Sent: Tue, October 6, 2009 12:46:16 AMSubject: Re: [ ] appetite + hepatitis C Hi Gloria Sounds like youve been watching FOX news. lol I go to the GP tomarrow for my weekly heart check-up. Have fun tomarrow, and I will too. love don in ks From: Gloria <gadamscan (DOT) ca>Subject: Re: [ ] appetite + hepatitis C Date: Monday, October 5, 2009, 9:00 PM It is highly recommended on treatment small meals several times a day !! Guest guest
I think another way to put it might be " Do you think your diabetes and Tx are related? " People come out of Tx with all sorts of stuff they didn't have going in. I'm certainly not saying this is what happened, but it does beg the question. RocketRon > > > > Don, > > > > When my condition got chronic in 1991, I had to quit running the lab and I sold out all the equipment etc. Three major problems; no appetite, no energy, no ambition to do anything. No; your stomach is not swollen, its your liver is not functioning as much. I wrote an article my daily " healthy liver habits " . Most of it you may already know, but anyway here it is: > > > > http://directory.leadmaverick.com:80/Hepatitis-C-CURED/DallasFort-WorthArlington\ /TX/10/9074/index.aspx > > > > Let me know if I can help, > > > > nyD > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: Christ <ludichrist2000@> > > WebWarriors grp < > > > Sent: Mon, October 5, 2009 1:32:50 AM > > Subject: [ ] appetite + hepatitis C > > > > > > http://search. / search?ei= utf-8 & fr=slv8-tyc7 & p=appetite%20% 2b%20hepatitis% 20C & type= > > > > Hi everyone > > I have noticed that I am experiancing a 'loss of appetite'. > > How has your eating habits changed? > > > > love > > don in ks > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > >
