Guest guest
Welcome Bill! I have read that about the air guns before! Always a shocker. I do hope that your biopsy is favorable. Cutting out drinking is key. Look forward to hearing more from you! Best Wishes, Scarlet > > Dear Group, My name is Bill AKA Stone Wolf (flintknapper). I found this site and am interested, as I have hep C. I am a vet so I work with the VA. I am going to get a liver biopsy tomorrow. I have good blood work, but want to know how far it has progressed. I have slowed down my alcohol to two drinks of wine on the weekend. I think I got hep C from the innoculation air guns in the service. I was in the USN and USMC from 1970 to 1981. I have read information that they suspect the shot air guns were not cleaned (I remember that) and that 30 out of 100 were probably contaminated, due to long lines of servicemen being processed by corpsmen. Vets have the highest rate of Hep C, because of that. I am looking forward to further discussions and being of help to any one who needs it. Guest guest
Welcome Bill aka Stone Wolf. Let us know when you do what the liver biopsy shows. What genotype HepC have you been infected with.Personally, I have no idea in actuality, how I was infected and find it of little use to try to figure it out. Considering that I believe that the numbers of people that don't know, can be as high as 50%, I'm left with an idea that it was from unsterilized hospital or dental equipment. As the kid of a Canadian service man, I to had one of those shot air guns used on me one year. But, I can not buy into believing that I might have picked up a Hep C from that. The the first 15 years of my adulthood, I drank like a fish and believe that if I had Hep C during that time, then I would not even be here to tell this story. In fact, I did not find out about it and then quite accidentally until 15 years into my sobriety.I'm on my second round of treatment right now and this one is a clinical trial that included a protease inhibitor. My liver had already turned cirrhotic sometime not long before this TX. So now it's just a waiting game to find out what kind of changes and chances this medication is going to give me.Gloria Dear Group, My name is Bill AKA Stone Wolf (flintknapper) .
