Guest guest
Hi, anything reading " old hippy " and " shot drugs " ALWAYS catches my attention. I'm going to be 55 next month and am an ole hippy who shot drugs back in 1974-75. Had Executive Series blood work every year which tests for everything standard. Wasn't until almost 2 yrs. ago that liver enzimes came back elevated. I asked my doc of 30 yrs. what causes that? He said, Drinking, too much Tylenol, or high cholesterol. NONE of which was a factor for me. SO, he gave me a lab slip to be tested for Hep A, B , and C. I joked with the tech " what, don't they have a D E and F. She said, actually they do. Anyway, never thought another thing about it till a week later and they called and said you won the drawing you have HEP C. Told me to come in a month. I went to the library to look up Hep C. Started reading, walked out and vowed not to learn anymore about the disease. Was back at the library the next morning reading about it, said the same thing. I don't want to know anymore. Since then, I've come to better terms with the fact that such a STUPID choice 35 yrs. ago had came to haunt me in one more way. Even though you didn't share your needles ( sometimes there were 20 of us using the same one after sharpening it on a match book striker) if you shared ANY part of your fixings: i.e. cotton, spoon, etc. you could have caught it. BUT, you also could have gotten it from tats, any medical or dental procedure ( the med. field screws up all the time ) or if you engaged in NUMEROUS sexual partners. The chance that you've contracted it from your girlfriend is " I BELIEVE " something like 2%. I hope she doesn't feel that she's given it to you. AND P.S.,,,YOU may have been careful about sharing your needle but did others respect that? I mean, after all, you were high and like the old saying goes, " There is no honor among thieves " and I add or doppers. Whatever the case may be, I know that your head is swimming right now. IT WILL get better though. Best wishes to you and your lady...Debbie > > > Hello everyone my name is Ron, my Dr just got the results of my CBC, and > I too am an old hippy and shot drugs into the early 70s.
