Guest guest
Hi everyone, Boy, Carlene, Vivian, and I have really got things going! This is good for everybody, don't you think? I love this group. I've seen others, and this is the one I belong to: as I said before, we're the hard cases. We need each other's points of view! Pain is a wierd thing. When it's a warning bell, it is a life saver. When it's not, like when someone has terrible phantoml limb pain, it's a curse. I think Vivian has been trying to tell us: she didn't treat it as a warning bell, and paid a price. Me too. (Bad docs have a role in this often enough.) This is why smart people have, if they're lucky, a team of competent professionals like Carlene has. And like I have. I don't know what I would do without them: neurosurgeon, pain management, family doc, therapist. Carlene, I *know* there's a mind-body connection. I'm aware of Dr. Sarno. I want to point out to all, there's a great article in last Sunday's New York Times magazine, about the mind-body connection and pain management. Some docs are doing groundbreaking research on providing an image of the brain in real time, and coaching people on strategies to tame the pain using their thought process. Kind of like biofeedback, but much, much more direct. Check it out. Maybe my husband can teach me how to cut and paste it, so I can post it here. I think you have to pay for it, and we paid. Copyright issues? Take care everyone! And I do mean, take care! in town PA, who had the umpty ump MRI of her lower back last night, and who has to go back to the surgeon b/c she's having trouble walking . . .
