Guest guest
it's MY way or the highway " attitude and diagnosed me by my symptoms exclusively, even though I've spent over $1000 personally on MRI's of cervical and lumbar. I have appts lined up over next 3 weeks with a hand (elbow) surgeon(saw him once before and was un-impressed but want his comments on EMG) and another Spine Surgeon, as well as another Neurologist. I have a VERY analytical mindset and encourage docs to analyse and have a strategy plan to see what options of treatment I have. Did you ever try PT or OT therapy before surgery? Outcome and what things helped? Docs have written Lodine for me, but my body is HYPER sensitive to side effects and adr's of any/all meds. Have you ever tried traction? Thanks for your responses. Guest guest
I think having an analytical mindset is a good thing. Just keep plugging away at it and be patient and I think you'll likely get the right docs/tests/etc to get the diagnosis right. One thing you can do that I did is get copies of mri's and ct-scans and send them to various places. I sent mine to germany for consideration of an aritificial disc replacement and down to a place in florida that does minimally invasive procedures. You can usually get some feedback on what/where they think the problem is and start to get a consensus among all the sources. I have also studied my mri and cat scans. The mri's are kinda hard although it's easy with them to see any spinal stenosis. The cat scans, with the right tools, are actually pretty easy to read and give great detail on bony spurs/ostephytes. If you decide to send off for 2nd opinions, wait till you have any tests done locally so you can include results from those tests. Also, get the written copies of results from the tests so you can send those. I would not have ANY work done until several things happen: - I've tried non-surgical solutions and they didn't help and I've tried them/waited at least 3 months. - I can't go on in my current condition - I'm confident with a diagnosis - I'm confident with a procedure - I'm confident with the doctor doing the procedure shybasset wrote: >it's MY way or the highway " attitude and diagnosed me by my symptoms >exclusively, even though I've spent over $1000 personally on MRI's of >cervical and lumbar.
