Nene,

I have a herniated disk, spinal stenosis, pinched nerve, three buldging disks,

and spiring in my neck. I'm seeing a neurosurgeon Dec 21. Did you see a

neurosurgeon yet?

Subject: sciatica 2 weeks post discectomy

i had a discectomy at L5 for a large herniated disc w anular tear.

turns out herniat even worse than MRI showed and the disc had actually

adhered to the sviatic nerve.

1st week no sciatic pain, now last 3 days bad sciat pain back.

is this normal. i am freaking out that it herniated again

or something wrong.

If the person is 2 weeks post discectomy, then they obvious saw some

sort of surgeon.

Nene,

I suggest you contact your surgeon. It could be swelling even if not present

the first week. In any case please contact the doc and let him know. This is

the kind of thing surgery is supposed to correct and it's possible you may

be forming scar tissue that is putting pressure on the nerve. It sounds like

your surgery was a handful.

Jean- beautiful GW hen you have there!

Nene,

I'm sorry you are having trouble after your surgery. I am with Diane contact

your surgeon and get back in there and make them get you an answer as to why you

are hurting more now than you were before. Just remember it is your body and you

are the one in control.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yeap, I have anual tear, herniated disk, stenosis, 3 buldging disks, pinched

nerve, and spuring in my neck too. What's discectomy?

To add to your post: I have a large L5-S1 disc herniation that is sticking out

half way into the spinal column. Its been like this for a long time now. My

surgeon wants to do a Microdiscectomy, but seeing as though physical therapy has

helped me a great deal I have opted out of surgery for now...However, I do still

get really bad pain in my leg and toes. I fear a dropped foot in the future, but

hopefully it wont happen. I will get the surgery at some point, but without

insurance its impossible for me to get any kind of surgery at this time.

AND the more I wait, the more damage is done to the nerve. I hope you are able

to find some kind of relief. Have you done any physical therapy yet after the

surgery?
