I waited too long to have these surgeries and now have nerve damage in my leg and foot. The pain I get in my foot is like sticking it in a light socket. It feels like I am getting severely shocked. Guest guest Posted August 18, 2009 Report Share Posted August 18, 2009 steve, The only kind of " light shocking " pain that I can relate to is when on Wednesday, the anesthesiologist tried to get a tiny vein on my right foot. Seems as though he hit every nerve possible. I get the electrical shocks around L5 that run through me like someone tasering me from the inside. They come and go but they are quite painful.They only last 30-60 seconds (and I can't move or breath) and then they subside and I may not have another for a day or two. Although right after my last surgery they were near constant for several weeks. My neuro said it is from nerve damage where they had to actually cut the nerves on my spinal cord. Hopefully your nerves are just sensitive right now and it will subside. When was your last surgery? If the damage came about because of lack of nutrition, too many toxins, etc., I believe it is reversible, but since nerves only regenerate every 7 years they take the longest of any cells in the body. I had some MRIs taken about two weeks ago and my neurologist believes she found a syrinx in my spine. I'm going for some more MRIs this week to be sure. I'm so afraid the damage is permanent. I want my erections back and I want my stomach problems to go away. From what I understand syrinx is a type of cyst on your spine, and your body can form cysts in many areas. I had one cyst in my bladder which broke, and many on my ovaries but none of them caused permanent damage.
