Guest guest
I'm stoked you're writing a book Bee! I've been trying to tell my family about it, and a few friends, but, the older folks and my sick sister don't want to spend hours on the computer, and my printer is dying. I was wondering if you had any pamphlets like Weston A Price's Foundation do, that I could buy and hand out? If not, would you mind if my husband helped me make up some PDF files of some main info, that I could share with my family and friends? Just to give them the basics and an idea of what I'm waffling on about? If you already have something I'd love to get hold of it. Thanks, Katrina =) PS It is ok to print off anything from your website isn't it? I finally saw the " Print " button, but I'm just checking! I get so tired at the computer, and I love having my folder on the bench so I can just flick through to find recipes and notes on what I'm supposed to be doing. Book would be even better, 2nd on the list after having you sitting on my bench telling me everything =) Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger. I would love to have a brochure but haven't had the time to set it up, and also I don't have PDF experience which I would need. Maybe your husband would be willing to help me learn it. Yes it is okay to print off anything from my website as long as you give me credit and links to my website. LOL! Enjoy and pass out the information freely. Guest guest
Hey Bee, When you do get your book written I hope you get a chance to go on the Oprah show! I caught a bit of a rerun today of Dr. Oz telling everyone how great it is to eat whole wheat bread and pasta. Boy, do we know how untrue that is! Best of luck with your book. I know it's going to be great! > > Yes it is okay to print off anything from my website as long as you > give me credit and links to my website. LOL! Enjoy and pass out the > information freely. Guest guest
That's true about getting attacked. I just sometimes get so frustrated by the lack of knowledge out there and I always feel like I'm the only " weird " one in a group of people because of my belief in natural healing. Heaven forbid I mention trying " unconventional " like getting more rest if someone is feeling under the weather. Plus, we don't vaccinate our son and I always get attacked for that too. Doctor's visits always become so confrontational. It's my wish that this diet and way of life becomes mainstream so I'm not the " weirdo " anymore! LOL! > ==>Thanks for the encouragement ! I'm a big weirdo too and I'm proud of it! No one should have to " fight " for the right to not give their children vaccines/poisons. We are thinking for ourselves, taking responsibility for our own condition, and not trusting the mainstream which is becoming more and more insane! Here's an example of the police state medicine has gotten into: " Authorities are looking for a Sandy [utah] couple who they believe fled Utah with their 12-year-old son in order to avoid court-ordered chemotherapy treatments for the boy's cancer. Daren and Barbara Jensen have been missing since Aug. 8, the date a juvenile court judge ordered they relinquish custody of their son, , to the Division of Child and Family Services. The boy has cancer of the mouth and is in need of medical care. Doctors have said the boy has only a 5 percent chance of living without chemotherapy treatments, according to an Associated Press report. " Here's one: Sick boy seized to force chemo treatments Canwest News Service Published: Thursday, May 08, 2008 HAMILTON, ONTARIO - Child welfare authorities on Thursday seized an 11-year-old cancer-stricken boy from his parents to compel the child to take chemotherapy. He has an aggressive form of leukemia and has already had some chemotherapy. But his parents say the treatment was ineffective and caused the lad great suffering. So, as a family, they decided to cease further treatments. Sickening, but true. It's become more and more a police state because of drug companies and medicine today who are in the sickness business. Guest guest
I find myself in the dilemma every time I talk to my mom or others about Bee's program. Bee, I don't think this program is controversial - that's what I don't get. How can eating foods that are good for you be controversial? It is sad that this is how far we have come along by the so called medical professionals. Now all run by big drug pushers. My take is that people are just too darn lazy to go back to eating real food. It does take some effort and time. We have become a 'quick fix' society in every aspect of our lives. My mom claims that not every one could follow your diet that it's just too hard for the average person. I used to believe that if you got so sick for so long that you would be willing to try anything - even something as drastic as changing your diet(lol) - well I have several family members who would rather stay sick and continue going to see doctors than try this approach. Sorry ...venting again. > > That's true about getting attacked. Sorry ...venting again. > ==>, you are right, this diet is not " controversial " since it is " back to nature, " according to how our bodies are designed. There are many people who are lazy and others who want to stay sick. Some people are proud of their ailments, and wear them like badges of honor. Which somehow makes them unique and special, and which brings them lots of sympathy and attention. And they portray the " victim " syndrome, i.e. that they can do nothing about it (and they won't) and it isn't their fault (it's in their genes). Duh? Actually it isn't difficult nor expensive to change to this diet, but many people have mental " blocks " because all they can see is the processed foods they have been eating. If such foods did not exist prior to industrialization, they aren't " real foods! " Most people today don't even know what being healthy IS, and certainly doctors cannot define health. Doctors continually telling people that " it's normal " to have this and that symptom, disease, malady, or that it's " in their genes " so there is nothing they can do about it, or that there is " no known cause " and it cannot be cured. So they perscribe drugs that must be taken for life, in order to keep you alive ???? How insane is that? When we know from Dr. Price's research that proper nutrients actually changes DNA/genes!!! I see it all the time with my daughter and coworkers with all those aliments and they are shovelling all this garbage, refined, fast food into their mouths. I sit near them and eat my salad and protein etc and they laugh at me because I'm too healthy. Meanwhile, I can jump over their heads anytime. You are absolutely right about some people loving their ailments and want to say they have this disability and so on, it makes me sick !!!! I feel like telling them change your crazy diet and you would feel better. Guest guest
thank you for taking on such a huge task. My daughter is a writer and is currently writing 2 books, so I know what a big thing this is. Personally, I would like to see something along the lines of all the different types of procedures that are out there and descriptions of them..for example, I'm sure a lot of people don't know what a laminectomy is. things along those lines. Well, that's really all I can think of right now. good luck to you on this! Guest guest
Go for it. I encourage you to include something about surgeries that just don't achieve what they are supposed to, and the broad horizon or wasteland of options available when that happens. ( glass half full or rempty ). Also, I have noticed ( after the fact ) that doctors really don't think much of neurosurgeons and surgeries for the relief of back pain in general. Great idea about the book. Most of the articles out there are just not that informative. It takes a book. Best of luck. spinal problems From: tpowell1977@... Guest guest
Gosh , you realize this is gonna keep you up all night at times, is going to be an incredible undertaking, rewarding and frustrating at the same time??? Don't get me wrong, I for one sure hope you do it. You certainly know about the subject. I know the first thing about writing a book is they say " write about what you know " , (makes you wonder what Stven King dreams about at night... I know he sleeps with a light on...). You do know the subject, and you have been such a tremendous help to us on here, for which I thank you. I for one, just had a MRI done at Hitchcock/ Dartmouth ordered by a neurologist " board certified " since 1978 (so he should know what he is doing, right?). Well, one thing I think people should know is to get results of their tests to keep for themselves. I did not get a whole lot of help from this MRI, long story, nerve damage I guess doesn't present itself well on anything. So I am still left " hanging " . Good luck . If you want some advise and some help from someone up here in NH that decided to write a book just like you did. Look at http://www.tripletulippress.com/About.htm Titia has writers workshops, and knows firsthand about getting a book published. You mentioned your folks had a place up in Wolfeboro, NH? Well, you might want to look them up. Titia's first book was about her daughter " Joan " , who died of breast cancer at 29. I went to school with Joan. Just a thought. in NH Writing a book Hey everyone, After much thought and words of encouragement from others, I have finally decided to write a book on back pain, managing it with the different options available, medical terms and definitions and how to navigate the medical system...with lots of inside information. Guest guest
I did not have my questions answered at the office of the neuro surgeon. The nurse said she did not want to look at my documents/papers filled out that was sent too me from the office, for she might become prejudiced. She did not discuss the test, the results of the test, etc. When the doctor came in, I thought he would give the answers, but he did not either. My questions:  The exam tests that are given, what do they tell us? IE heel to toe, walk on toes, walk on heels, push with your legs, pull up with your toes. Strength , balance? Is there a criteria for surgery? The doctor asked me what pain meds I am taking, even though all this was written down, like he never even looked at them. Does the amount of drugs, or the kind of drugs taken also play into whether you will have surgery on not? If a doctor owns the office, what are the rules he/she needs to follow for candidates for surgery. Do they just pick and choose who will have surgery? Liability insurance is quite high, does this have an effect of whether they will perform surgery?  How objective are the medical surgeons VS subjective? Why do they have one fill out pages of paper and not use the information that is written down? Legalities VS how the doctor wants to run it? What are the causes of failed surgery? What are statistics with spinal surgery, short term/long term? Is the medical field turning back to not doing surgeries unless absolutely needed? What are the out comes for people that can not have surgery and their discs continue to degenerate? Is pain the primary reason for people to seek surgery? What is the percentile that are helped by having surgery, short term/long term? Do they still have pain? What are doctors not telling us? Are the reasons that surgeons are choosing not to do surgery now due to medical insurance, age, failure rate, obesity, smoking, all of those reasons? A combination of those reasons? Why are little people (dwarfs) having so many surgeries to stand straight but others are denied? IE Little people show said they had thirty surgeries or more to stand straight. Doctors are trained and continue to be educated. Why don't they educate their clients? Are medical offices too understaffed and do not have time to provide quality care and answer questions? Are they afraid to educate us in case of liability? When is the spine too damaged to do surgery? Does this mean they will wait until emergency issues come up to do surgery? What is the percentage of America that have spinal injuries? Has this increased or decreased over the past decade? What is the percentile that are having surgery? Has this increased or decreased over the past decade?  There is reported increase with alternative care due to the primary reason being pain. http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2009/jul/31/alternative-medicine-costs-billions/ Is the standard of care; pain pills, shots, physical therapy, and other services added to the medical office? What are the stats of these standards helping, or eliminating pain?  How is their quality of life? Are they happy with the outcome? Are the people as productive as before the spine injury?

Guest guest
Lol, thank you . Good luck to you. I have 150 pages completed for a first book to do with dogs/training but I am not done yet. I also have 150 pages of poetry/pictures to some day publish, by that time there will be more. I will be doing self publishing/on demand book selling. That way I will have no inventory or expensive up front costs. I was thinking last night, education is power and I could use some. I am working on going back to a skinny mini and will only take absolutely needed medication only when I have too. I will learn to live in some pain and walk the world of the living.  My provider said I am the one that chooses my health. Well I choose life. I do not know how long you have been here with this group, but I am sure there is a common theme among us for questions that go unanswered and a large book to write.                                                                                 \
Guest guest
Something I would like more information on is the different types of spinal fusion/laminectomy. A nurse for an orthopedic doctor had this and they weaved a material in and around the spine. Her surgery was 25 years plus and never had trouble with it. Another person I had worked with had had several surgeries. Bars in, bars out. The last surgery, they went in through the front and then through the back. Bracing her spine front to back vs. side to side. I have heard in other countries there are even vertabraes being replaced with epoxy type products. And that there are less invasive ways to fuse the spine. Don't know how much is fact. But sure would be nice to know the options. Writing a book Date: Sat, 01 Aug 2009 14:32:14 -0000 Hey everyone, After much thought and words of encouragement from others, I have finally decided to write a book on back pain, managing it with the different options available, medical terms and definitions and how to navigate the medical system...with lots of inside information. I am looking for everyone's input on this, as you all are my inspitation for this book. I want all the info that you and others like you are looking for all in one place. Please tell me what kinds of things you would like to see in a book about spine problems and the often associated chronic pain. ANY and ALL ideas are welcome!!! I am excited and nervously overwhelmed with this, but looking forward to getting the info out there to help others! --- Babbitt -- Email2me.... The email service that cares. Guest guest
Good for you! i've often thought of this idea. There really isn't anything out there that specificially relates to back pain and living with chronic pain. I think how to navigate through the system and understanding the difference between types of doctors and their approaches and covering pain management would be very helpful. I've been trying to help a few people who are new to chronic pain and it's amazing the information I have amassed in 13 years. As hard as it is to believe, I travelled much of the world in chronic pain. I wrote a list of travellers tips on a site to help those who might want to attempt this. Sounds crazy but I did it. Inspiration and hope are so crucial I think to communicate. Let me know if there is anything specific I can help you with. I will be having a fusion in two months and have had just about every treatment, test etc. best.
