Guest guest
Welcome Chloe! I believe in eating balanced, proportioned meals - and 5 or so small meals though the day,can keep your metabolism up and revved, then drink water and start moving. I know no matterwhat I do or don't do that if I don't exercise I feel guilty. (that's just me though) At my current weight, exercising is not easy but it's not impossible either, so I do what I can. I love exercise videos. I look forward to getting to know you and hopefully we can be losers together! (I'm a newbie to thislist as well!)Jen BakerOn Dec 9, 2007 7:46 AM, honeycarmelcutie < honeycarmelcutie@...> wrote: Hello all. Im Chloe an Im new to the group from MI. Once you see where you go wrong you can start making changes, like substitute fruit or veggies and a low fat dip for candy or potato chips as a snack or lower fat, less processed meats (or vegetarian substitutes) for the cold cuts in your sandwiches, sub whole grain bread for white, add whole grain flours to your white when baking, eat more fruits and veggies so there's less room in your tummy for higher calorie mashed potatoes made with cream and butter. And start increasing the amount of water you drink. Add a few extra ounces a day until you build up to about half your weight in ounces of fluid intake each day - that's including coffee/tea, sodas, soup, gelatin, etc. Once you start eating healthier foods with more fiber you'll probably find yourself naturally eating less in volume/calories. If you want a more formal weight loss program, check our Files and Links sections for some suggestions. >I'm starting with a cleanse. Why? All those master cleanses do is rid the body of some extra water weight, as as soon as you start eating solid food again the weight comes right back on. You'd be doing your body a better favor by just increasing your fiber intake with more whole grains, fruits and veggies - *those* will cleanse your gut, not lemon juice. They don't mockingly call vegetarians " salad shooters " for nothing! LOL Sue in NJ

Me: exercise, journaling food and thoughts and remembering to get my water in are keys to my success. Also, not putting time limits on myself. It seems anytime I join a "contest" or start setting goals to be at certain weights by certain dates sets me up for derailment. Guest guest
Hi, I have had an X-ray on my Lumbar spine which states that I have 'severe degeneration in the L5/S1 region'. I have not had any referral yet to a specialist, and keep getting terrible pain in this part of my back. I need to go back to my doctor to get a referral but I have to wait until next week. I do back stretching exercises which a physio told me to do and this takes some of the pain away for a while, but it soon comes back, its like something goes 'out of place' in my lower spine, doing gentle stretching exercises does warm this part of my back up, but does this mean I have to do them everyday for the rest of my life? Does anyone know what 'severe degeneration' actually means and what I can do about it? Does doing these exercises mean that its not going to get worse? Thanks for your help.
