Guest guest
Please make an appointment with good otologist in your area to get checked out. Where do you live? I am sure someone could recommend a good surgeon in your area. You really can not look back now, you just need to find a good Dr and make sure you follow his/ her instructions. Good luck , a bit worried Hi i am new here found this site by chance looking for info on 2 operation i had nearly 10 years ago. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been up all night so I apologize if I'm a bit ramble here. I had a L4/L5 plif with instrumentation on March 2nd and thought I was doing pretty well. About two weeks ago I saw the surgeon's assistant and since things seemed well we agreed on a plan for me to taper off the oxycontin I've been taking for pain management. Well, I've been working on it and this has been my first twenty four hours without taking any and things are pretty good except for the insomnia which I kind of expected. I've been in/out of pain management allot the last nine years with my back and the insomnia is something that seems to go with the category. I am worried though about some pretty good pain I'm experiencing on the left side of the incision that runs down into my left hip. It's tender enough so that it's impossible to lay down on my left side and when I shift position it's kind of a jarring pain just below the ribcage. The sciatica down my right leg is almost gone which is a big relief! After getting off the darn pills I'm just hoping this type of thing is normal and will diminish with time also. May I ask the group if this type of thing is common after lumbar fusion or do you think I should call the office and see if I can talk to someone about it? Best wishes, Calvin
Guest guest
Instead of not taking anything at all, why aren't you taking a lower dosage of something? If you have pain (especially after surgery) then that needs to be addressed. I had my surgery a year ago and still need some pain meds. They aren't going up in dosage and I don't take that much, just enough so that I can bear the pain. This is all under my pain management specialists guidance and not my surgeon. I am careful in what I take, but pain also needs to be dealt with, especially if you are staying up all night. If you want to stay off the pain meds all together, then why not try ambien or something to help you sleep while you try to learn to cope with the pain. My thought is if you can come down on the dosage and still have your pain in check then you are doing the right thing. Just my .02, life is too short to live it in pain! > > Hi everyone, > I've been up all night so I apologize if I'm a bit ramble here.
