Guest guest
What are water kefir grains? I have seen the regular kefir grains. All kefir contains alcohol, so no it isn't okay. Bee
Guest guest
hi ! just managed to get both: liquid water kefir and dehydrated kefir grains. came up with a couple of questions -how often and when during the day do you drink your kefir? -regarding the grains: can they be used for milk kefir as well? -the recipe i got uses half lemon, 25grms gratedsugar cane, 2 dates, water and grains... do you approve of this as a starting point? thanks a
Guest guest
> > Hi Bee, > > I know you do not recommend milk kefir due to the sugar byproduct from the grains eating the lactose. I was curious if a similar sugar is made when the water kefir grains eat the sugar in the water during the fermentation? +++Hi Garrett, Any kind of fermentation, whether of foods, drinks, wine, or in our own bodies create alcohol. Guest guest
I'm still learning myself... I heard lemon can be a difficult addition, but maybe there is a lot of different opinions there? The basic recipe I was told uses sugar, a little of less refined sugar, some mineral drops, grains, water, etc. Of course, you can get many variations from there. Another thing is they recommended that once you started getting a lot more grains to separate to two different containers, and then do regular water kefir in one, and your experiments in the other. That way if your experiment doesn't work, you still have something left. I just have enough right now for one jar a day (probably about 12 oz.). I usually drink one jar after my dinner. I don't notice any affects really except I get a little tipsy!!! > just managed to get both: liquid water kefir and dehydrated kefir grains. came up with a couple of questions > -how often and when during the day do you drink your kefir? > -regarding the grains: can they be used for milk kefir as well? > -the recipe i got uses half lemon, 25grms gratedsugar cane, 2 dates, water and grains... do you approve of this as a starting point? > > thanks > a >
Guest guest
Please tell me where you found the information - that water kefir is an avoid. Was it on the adama site and I missed it? I will need to show proof to one particular friend. She is very bossy. I avoid all dairy products and can't tolerate goat or sheep milk, but water kefir is non-dairy. Thank you. > > Tell your friends that you can't eat kifer. It's an avoid for all o's. > > Water Kefir > > > > I have been experimenting with water kefir. I have searched the Adama site for information on water kefir for type O and haven't figured out whether or not it is an avoid. I don't know if I am a secreter. My body doesn't seem to like water kefir but friends have encouraged me to continue making it for probiotic health. I've just made my 6th batch and I can't get the sweetness to a level I can tolerate. The first couple of batches I followed recipes, using fruit beneficial to type O, and the grains multiplied and were healthy but the resulting drink was too sweet for me. Then I reduced sugar to the point that the grains were dissolving due to lack of food but it was still too sweet. Brought the grains back to health and tried letting it ferment till it almost became vinegar but then it had a scum on the bottom that I didn't like (yeast?) and the drink still tasted sweet. Sugars have always been an issue for me and I don't tolerate much fresh fruit intake, fruit juice, or dried fruit. I get a sinus ache almost immediately after drinking the water kefir I make and have noticed thick mucus in my throat to the point that I need to cough it up. I have had an issue with Candida in the past and have sensitivities to yeast. Writing this I realize that it is time to stop making and ingesting water kefir. If it is so wonderful for my gut, why does it make me feel so bad? Can anyone tell me whether it is an avoid? Share your experience with water kefir? Thank you. > > > > > >
Guest guest
I have had significant candida issues that progressed to severe leaky gut....I am left with sensitivities to many things including yeast. My naturopath thought we would be able to repopulate my gut with healthy bacteria through a fairly involved program, but because of damage we are now gong much slower as the damage to my villi and gut lining has not healed enough to add in problem foods. Kefired anything is like giving my self a case of the flu....my gut needs controlled kinds of probiotics and inulin/FOS to feed the good guys along with controlled diet and supplements.
