[Fermented foods for Pets/ was MN] Re: Soup Bones

One thing I do give my puppy is kefir grains. On the kefir list many people gave

their dogs kefir and grains. I feel that these do him good. If I skip out on

this, his fur doesn't look as good.

Is anyone else giving their dogs fermented foods or kefir? I see that they do

like rotted meat and there are bacteria on there that benefit them, I'm sure...

maybe some chicken here and there. He gets fclo daily, but I add other oils

like raw coconut oil, or raw butter now and then. He gets bone broth (with the

marrow) daily, and some raw egg yolk or whole egg a couple times a week. And

for snacks, I'll give him a small bit of fresh fruit or raw veggies like carrot,

to chew on throughout the day. Another snack he loves is go raw cookies, the

only bad ingredient is agave, but they are small and he only get two at a time

and not very often. I raise alot of my own food (meat, dairy, eggs, and

produce) so I feel comfortable giving him a mostly raw food (organic) diet. I've

tried fancy powders to add to his diet, but they are expensive and I didn't

notice any benefits. I tell my husband that my dog is our GAPS child, because

he eats better than we do. I hope this helps.

as to the optimal way to feed a dog. I get confused and hope for the best with

his diet...
