Guest guest
The work of Dr. Fasano seems to have been pinpointing the cause of leaky gut. He's identified zonulin as the hormone that gets produced and triggers the " tight junctures " in the gut to open. Really interesting set of studies! The people who have actual ulcers in their gut often get them because they have celiac, which is an autoimmune disease triggered by gluten (though some people think it can be triggered by some other proteins as well). In those cases, avoiding the allergen is the main cure, though glucosamine and butyrate seem to help people. I totally agree about polysaccharides. Konjac has been very helpful to me! Bentonite clay has also helped: it tends to bind to some of the " irritating stuff " and keeps the gut happy.
