Sharon -

I have noticed a similar reaction from people...not only from asthma

sufferers who could potentially benefit from Xolair, but also from

family and friends. Very few people have heard of Xolair, and it

doesn't help that it's an injectable drug, which sometimes scares

people off.

A lot of people assume that if Xolair was a real possibility for

treating their asthma, their doctor would have already told them

about it. This is simply not the case, however. I had to ask my

doctor about it - he never mentioned it once. But as soon as I did,

he hopped right on board! In my case, there was a slim chance that my

insurance would cover Xolair treatment because I would be using it

somewhat off-label. My doctor probably didn't want to dangle the

Xolair " carrot " in front of me, only to whisk it away if insurance

wouldn't approve it.

There are a lot of snake charmers out there trying to peddle their

goods. If someone hasn't heard of Xolair, they may not realize that

it is a legitimate treatment, not a snake oil. It does have kind of a

spooky name!

Sharon - have you considered contacting the moderators of your asthma

groups to see if they might start a subsection specifically for

Xolair discussions? Maybe you could send them this article from the

Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine that posted awhile

back to " prove " that Xolair is a legitimate treatment!

On second thought, if your asthma forums use a format like this

group does, you can't create a subsection since there are no

categories. In this case, perhaps you could appeal to one of the

moderators to start a discussion about it so that members could see

the information is coming from a " legitimate " source. I don't

know...what do you think?

I've just started Xolair myself, but I am extremely adamant about

spreading word to those most in need of it! I hate seeing people

suffer needlessly!

Take care,

Great ideas and thank you for the link. I will try this. I

really appreciate your suggestions. I was starting to feel like these

people thought I was pushing an info-mercial product... Sharon
