Guest guest
Hi, Where can I find those glass jars with the rubber seal and the wire closing lip on the lid for an economical price? You know, to put bath salts or bath scrubs in? By the way where can I find bath scrub recipes? Drae
Guest guest
Why don't you just measure the water and see if the jar holds one gallon? I use one gallon glass apothecary-type jars that I found at Target. -- April The Lotus rises from the mud and dirt Sweet Lotus Creations https://www.sweetlotuscreations.com On Jan 29, 2008 12:59 PM, Heinz <luv2scrap@...> wrote: > Hey group. Guest guest
Five pounds of liquid a little over a half gallon. A pint of liquid weighs one pound, so your jar is five pints. For glass jars for free many people go to a local deli or restaurant and ask. Some people us Freecycle. Walmart and Target both carry gallon size glass cookie jars. If you were close to me I could certainly let you have some that I no longer use since I started doing a continuous brew. Good luck! By the way, you can brew a half gallon....just won't have as much, but something is better than nothing until you can get your gallon jar. Gayle WI/USA GLASS JARS > Hey group. Guest guest
Hi and EveryOne, Continuous brew is a bit easier to maintain once you get used to the Kombucha brewing process. You will find an article I wrote about Continuous Fermentation here: http://users.bestweb.net/~om/kmi/news13.html I used to use the Anchor Hocking 2 gallon glass " cookie jar " glass jars to brew and they work very well, the 2 gallon size leaves room for air at the top and you can make a full gallon or more in each jar. Now I use a 2.5 gallon glass jar with a plastic spigot that I got online at infused-vodka.com which works very well for Continuous Fermentation. Guest guest
Try your local freecycle group. I got one brand new sun tea jar and a beautiful ceramic crock (can anyone tell how I can make sure the crock does not have lead? I thought I read somewhere that a lead crock will make a " pinging " noise (like lead crystal) and ceramics without lead will make a thudding noise when you " thunk " them. Does anyone know if that's true? I haven't used the crock yet because it has a metal spout and I need to find a plastic replacement. All the spouts I've seen online are $10.00 plus shipping, and I hate to have to spend that much. Any of you KT brewers happen to have a dusty spare you don't mind parting with? Getting back to my original point, try freecycle or your local Craig's List under " free " . I have had great results with them both giving and getting useful items. Good luck. It isn't bad, is it? (oh! please say no!) hehe Hello , I sometimes drink larger amounts as you do. If you feel well on it, drink as much as you feel your body wants to. Some people can only tolerate very small amounts of KT, while others drink it by the bottle ;-) I go through phases. SOmetimes I drink amounts like you, sometimes I only may drink a 4 oz glass a day. It can vary a lot. Sometimes I drink more Kefir, and sometimes the pendulum is swinging stronger towards the Kombucha. So, , keep on enjoying your wonderful drink and don't worry. Just listen to your body! Guest guest
I don't think it is bad, but i do remember when I started drinking it a couple of years ago I think I overdid it by drinking it as a cooling beverage. I think I drank like 4 water glasses of half KT and half grape juice. All of a sudden I started itching and realized I had hives all over the body. I took an antihistamine and was fine but since then no longer drink more than 2 glasses a day. Guest guest
I think you can drink as much as you want - of course as much as your body can tolerate: however, I also know that for me it can make me feel dehydrated and you should most definitely also include water (or something else) to counterbalance this. KT has a detoxifying effect which I believe is partially responsible to the dehydration factor - so if you feel thirsty, then ensure that you're also drinking something else too.
