Guest guest
I have the same problem. This last bout flared up due to drinking too sweet kombucha. It needs to be attacked from the inside by ingesting quality probiotic pills such as Jarrow or Metagenics Ultra Flora Plus and staying away from anything sugary. I've been drinking coconut kefir and it's knocking it out. During the worst of the attack you can puncture a large garlic clove with a fork and insert it vaginally. I had a colonic once and it washed away all the protective flora. Then came the yeast infection. I called the place to tell them and it was suggested to use garlic. It worked. It will come out on its own....Kathleen ________________________________ From: keppers79 <kep-at-home@...> nutrition Sent: Fri, April 2, 2010 9:17:41 AM Subject: probiotics for vaginal yeast infections? I hope this is not too weird of a question for this group. I have recurrent yeast infections which I am trying to combat. I've been taking lots of probiotics orally. However, I'm wondering is there something I could apply topically? I hear of people using yogurt vaginally, but that just seems kind of messy? I'm wondering about a douche with water kefir? Or something like that? How can I get beneficial probiotics directly where they need to be to solve the problems? Or should I not worry about that and just worry about eating more probiotics? Guest guest
Yogurt and kefir work. There is a product called AmLactin that is an AMAZING skin conditioner, whose main ingredient is lactic acid (the acid in yogurt). When I get kefir on my hands, the skin gets so soft! But it kills the nastier yeast too. On Fri, Apr 2, 2010 at 9:17 AM, keppers79 <kep-at-home@...> wrote: > I hope this is not too weird of a question for this group. Guest guest
Also remember that if you're sexually active with anyone, they need to be treated as well. During my last pregnancy (when I had recurring yeast infections), my midwife suggested that I rinse out a little with diluted hydrogen peroxide, and then follow up immediately with the topical application of a good probiotic. I have been dealing with a yeast infection on and off for months (due to pregnancy), and have noticed that eating food with a lot of lactobacillus actually makes it worse- so I think it's possible to overdose on any bacteria or yeast, not just the " bad " ones. Kefir contains a host of " healthy " yeasts, which should compete with candida albicans. I don't know about water kefir- but this is true of dairy kefir. Treating your infection might be made easier if you figure out which yeasts and bacteria you eat a lot of (and thus which are likely to be colonizing you), and then find a probiotic supplement that contains a variety of *other* microorganisms. You are much more likely to correct a bacterial or yeast imbalance that way. Good luck, > > I have the same problem. This last bout flared up due to drinking too sweet kombucha. Guest guest
It is thought that dairy probiotics may not survive digestive acids. That's why I use Metagenics and not liquid acidophiles. Between the garlic and the coconut kefir it's substantially subsiding. I make a solution with food grade peroxide, aloe gel, and glycerin. Topically that works, too. It can sting like crazy, temporarily....Kathleen ________________________________ From: saoirsecaesar <rachel@...> nutrition Sent: Sat, April 3, 2010 8:40:31 AM Subject: Re: probiotics for vaginal yeast infections? Guest guest
Thanks Kathleen. What do you do with the solution of peroxide, aloe gel, and glycerin other than apply topically? What Metagencis probiotics are you using? > > It is thought that dairy probiotics may not survive digestive acids. That's why I use Metagenics and not liquid acidophiles. Guest guest
Thanks . That interesting the advice that your midwive gave. What kind of probiotic did she suggest? I would really like to find a clear liquid or gel. The yogurt is so messy and powders messy in their own way. What would be the best way to treat my husband? I don't want to put him through too much misery since he has no symptoms. Candida cures can be quite intensive... > > Also remember that if you're sexually active with anyone, they need to be treated as well. Guest guest
The Peroxy Gel is used on everything except herpes sores. I found the remedy and recipe in a book by Conrad LeBeau, " Hydrogen Peroxide and Ozone " . I use the gel on everything - even removed neck pain. It's amazing stuff. His book is very good with some good history about how Big Pharma got it's start. The product from Metagenics I use is Ultra Flora Plus. But currently have a Jarrow probiotic product, which I bought for my last parrot but now I'm using it and it seems to work fine. I think if a chronic candida sufurer is consuming coconut kefir, kraut, near-zero sugar kombucha, taking probiotics, etc. that they won't suffer attacks. Kombucha alone, however, only keeps the infection just at bay. Conrad LeBeau has another excellent book, " Natural Remedies for Intestinal Health. " I highly recommend it. It's full of solutions for all kinds of issues related to digestion, bacteria, fungus, virus, CFIDS, etc. Kathleen ________________________________ From: keppers79 <kep-at-home@...> nutrition Sent: Sat, April 3, 2010 5:07:41 PM Subject: Re: probiotics for vaginal yeast infections?
