I use the 3 piece one. It's easier to clean, IMO.

I hadn't thought about using vodka, but it's a good point. Mostly I try

to keep it from getting sucked in, and it doesn't happen often, actually.

Which is good, because we do often get these teeny tiny flies

that go there to drown.
