Guest guest
Whey has a very high protein content; builds up the Immune system; very good for the muscles; a very higly absorbable form of nutrtional protein. Protein is used by the system to repair and mantain cells. so in effect Whey on a daily basis could help ward off diseases by building up immunity; I have heard NOW Whey is good;www.nowfoods.com-- In candidiasis , c c <tranquilmoment@...> wrote: > > does whey help get rid of unwanted candida? > > What are some of the benefits of undenatured whey? > > > > =^.^= > Sue K >
Guest guest
Can whey cause frequent bowel movements or loose bowels? Or can it produce gassy stomach? thanks =^.^= Sue K
Guest guest
It sure seems to! I started the whey about 10 days ago and have had ridiculous gas. I just swtiched to another brand to see if that helps. Someone had posted up here a while ago that they found a brand that didn't cuase gas, but they didn't say which one, and never responded to our inquiries. Very frustrating! Duncan recommended starting with a partial amount and ramping up to the full amount, which I've been doing, but the gas is still really bad. If anyone has help, PLEASE let us know! > > > Can whey cause frequent bowel movements or loose bowels? Guest guest
If you have really bad gas or loose stools that means you shouldn't be taking whey. Both happens to me and when I went to a dr. she did delayed reaction food tests on me and it turns out I'm highly sensitive to ALL forms of dairy, including whey. Your body is trying to tell you something. Re: whey It sure seems to! I started the whey about 10 days ago and have had ridiculous gas. I just swtiched to another brand to see if that helps. Guest guest
I have been using whey, on Duncan's recommendation, for many many years. I searched all over the internet, looking for problems whey usage might create. If you read below, it states that the bloating and cramps can occur if not sufficiently hydrated. Further reading suggested letting it sit for a few minutes after mixing. I don't see any indications anywhere that I searched that indicated side effects so bad that they would take a year to recover from the damage. I looked at a lot of sites and they said basically the same as what I posted below. Duncan cannot possibly know all of our bodies' needs. His advice has been consistently good. I don't drink milk, it doesn't like me much. But I have no problems with yoghurt, cheese, or whey products. Maybe you can share with us which brand it was? What other ailments might you have that would have caused you to have problems with whey? How long did you take the whey before stopping its usage? Inulin, another product that Duncan advises us to use, and that I have also been using for years, will definitely give you gas lol That stops after a while. If I stop taking the whey and the inulin, it doesn't take long before I notice that I don't feel as well as I do when I am using it. CONTRAINDICATIONS and WARNINGS is contraindicated in individuals who develop or have known hypersensitivity to specific milk proteins. ™ contains <0.05% lactose and is generally well tolerated by lactose-intolerant individuals. Patients undergoing immunosuppressive therapy should discuss the use of this product with their health professional. ADVERSE REACTIONS Gastrointestinal bloating and cramps can occur if the product is not sufficiently rehydrated. Transient urticarial-like rash has been seen in rare individuals undergoing severe detoxification reaction. Such rashes were found to abate when product intake is stopped or reduced. Re: whey Sue K. Guest guest
Thanks for the response diane, for me, it was just cramps and loose bowel movements right after i drank it. I have been drinking whey for about one year. in the beginning i had crampy feelings but that when away. I ran out for a week or so and this happened when i began drinking it regularly but only had a weird reaction once or twice. For the most part i do not have trouble with it. I also read that i could been that i was not hydrated enought and that could cause it. =^.^= Sue K From: Diane Trudeau <diana_true@...> Subject: Re: Re: whey candidiasis Date: Monday, June 23, 2008, 1:37 PM I have been using whey, on Duncan's recommendation, for many many years. Guest guest
Has anyone been able to get a sample of the whey Duncan recommends? It would make sense for us to be provided with this before shelling out the money for a full-size product. Re: whey Sue K. Whey certainly did for me. It gave me more gut problems. Guest guest
A while ago I posted a link to an article about MSG being often found in whey protein. Duncan responded that it can be found in hydrolyzed whey, but he indicated that the brand/type he sells is OK. I'd say if you are taking one of those off the shelf body builder products you might want to check that. Guest guest
Sue, yes the lactose in cold-processed whey can cause gas etc ...one can avoid it by using low-lactose whey and still enjoy the benefits Low-sugar whey might contain around 1 gram of lactose per dose of around 30-35 grams. All good, Duncan ( briefly resurfacing from his lifelong honeymoon > > > Can whey cause frequent bowel movements or loose bowels? Yes, whey contains lactose - here's an article that breaks down the substances in whey: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/proteinisolate.php The rule about lactose IS: the higher the butterfat content the lower the lactose, so that is why butter is okay, while any other dairy products are not. Guest guest
Doug, if you don't react to cheese you shouldn't react to whey solids. There's no build up or anything like that. Guest guest
Doug, about 28-35 grams 2-3 times a day is a good amount of whey for most people for health, double that for body building. Guest guest
My scoop is 20 grams for 6 oz water. If I do that 3 times a day would that be sufficient? I think if I do 28 grams I will only do it twice. Which would you choose, 20 gr. 3 times, or 28 grams twice? Would the 20 grams 3 times be ok? Guest guest
Doug, my Dyna Whey has a 35 gram scoop; nonetheless I use a rounded scoop of around 40 grams, twice daily most days. Depending on your product, 60 grams total should be in the ballpark for glutathione production that will provide substantial benefit. Production varies from whey to whey so I personally guess high and enjoy the advantage of having the protein with the highest biological value, but you do what you like based on your own guess and comfort level Some good wheys like Immunocal, Immunopro etc are horribly expensive so some people cut back to 30 grams total, less than half of what they'd use of a cheaper product. Since ALL people who live to be 100 have unusually high glutathione levels, and it forms the seat of immune response, obviously those who want to age well in relative absence of disease will take steps to achieve high levels. For Carol, high levels of glutathione promoters can not be obtained with whole raw milk because you'd need to drink 10 gallons or more daily. Guest guest
Whey shouldn't cause sleepiness though, although there is some enzyme in it for saiety. As I said by private email, I think the irritation and possibly gut permeation is supplied by the commercial antifreeze preparation that you use for constipation. Our methods on the candidiasis list are unlike that in that they are biologically supportive. all good, Duncan > > If whey causes sleeplessness, would that get better or resolve over time? Also if I was having diarrhea from some sort of upset could the whey make it worse? thanks, Doug >
