Welcome to our group. The best test is Dr. Crook's Candida Questionnaire. Sorry, but I don't interpret tests. > > Additionally, my ND went on to say that the diet is so restrictive that she hasn't seen success with her patients for lack of will power. And basically, if you know you have it, you need to have anti- fungals after every meal with simple carbs, like " wiping down the sill after moisture accumulates " ? My homeopath indicated " getting rid of " candida was not the way the body works. . . and instead we should try to help the body to re-establish balance (in this case by finiding my constitutional remedy)? +++, about your " constitutional remedy, " all human bodies require the same set of nutrients in order for their bodies to become healthy or maintain health. Just like animals in the wild that belong to a certain species require the same foods, we do too. Dr. Weston A. Price, in his book " Nutrition and Physical Degeneration " writes: " We humans have the same rigid restrictions regarding food selection as the simpler forms of life when foods are evaluated from their chemical basis. Our greater complexity however, introduces new behavior patterns due to injuries to the structure and therefore the functions of the forebrain. All primitive races that have lived on for long periods have done so by obeying Nature's rigid laws. " > > Seeing that fascinating info on the cancer/candida/fungal connection really got me to thinking, though. I've been treating my thyroid to see if that cascades to better results on my labs for other things. . . but is the candida the root cause and primary driver? +++Yes . Candida is the root cause and primary driver, even for thyroid malfunctions. I lost my thyroid when I was curing my candida because of too many meds, iodine and in those days soy foods. Candida causes all cell membranes to go rigid/stiff so that causes a lot of malfunctions and problems throughout the body - see this article: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/cabout1.php > I am incorporating more and more Weston A Price-style eating, and have done so for the last four years - but I've kept the dairy, sprouted grains and sugar (although in more " natural forms). +++That's great you have been following WAPF. It won't be as difficult for you to eliminate dairy (other than butter) and sugars. > > I guess I could do anything as long as I knew there was an end in sight. . .how LONG do you have to eat so restrictively? +++Natural healing takes 1 month for every year you've been unwell, which for most people nowadays is since before birth. After that the diet can be modified, but it is always important to obtain proper nutrients and eliminate toxins in order to maintain life-long health. The best to you, Bee

Nice to meet all of you! +++Hi Jerry Voltura. It is nice to meet you too. My name is Bee Wilder. Welcome to our wonderful group. > > One of my questions is - does anyone out there have a Candida > problem which has caused stomach issues? I've been battling with GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) for many years and take acid- > blockers, but they are not working too well anymore. I have a burning sensation in my stomach (feels like acid) right below the breast bone that is generally not relived by meds like Prilosec, although Zantac helps sometimes. I recently tried things like Apple Cider Vinegar, organic honey, and supplements including Vitamin B-12, etc - all with limited success. I've had an upper endoscopy and went to an ENT specialist and all of them point to GERD and hiatus hernia. > > Does anyone have experience with Candida and stomach problems like > these? Symptoms are basically acid-feeling in stomach, burning > sensation in throat, and mouth. If you do, what has worked for you? +++Jerry, you are talking to the GERD, ulcer, hiatal hernia, purple pill, Zantac, expert! Yes, my stomach was my worst candida symptom of all. At one point during my candida program I could only eat 9 foods in the whole world (I had no choice because everything else came back up) and I was losing 3 lbs. per day. I'm so grateful to not have stomach problems (except when I'm very stressed); even then my stomach settles easily, and I know to go on a liquid diet when it does act up. My own dear brother (61 years old) cured his Crohn's disease after having it for over 20 years on my program. Many other members of this group have also successfully overcome stomach and digestive problems. See our Success Stories: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/success/index.php Even if a person doesn't have candida this program will improve their health because it provides proper nutrients your body needs to heal itself naturally, along with eliminating toxins, damaging foods, etc. Jerry, I suggest you read " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " and do the Candida Test in it: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/candida/index.php My website is quite extensive so you can learn about Digestion and many other health issues on it: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/index.php Cheerio, Bee
Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am Tricia. I am a homeschooling mom of 8, we live on a hobby farm in central Florida. I just received my first Kefir grains and a Kombucha and I am excited and scared at the same time. I made two batches of Kefir so far but they seem clumpy and I am not sure what it is supposed to taste like. My son who is used to drinking the kefir from the supermarket says it is not right yet. I am doing a half gallon of milk to 3 tbsp of kefir grains and letting it sit in a cupboard for 24 hours. Is that too long? My house is usually about 74 degrees during the day and 68 at night. What is kefir supposed to smell like, mine smells like the milk is sour. I made a batch of kombucha and let it sit too long and now it smells like vinegar. Is this vinegar? Can it be used as vinegar? Any suggestions would be really helpful. I am really trying to improve our health and these seem like the next step. Thank you, Tricia
Guest guest
Hi! I'm a homeschooling mom of 6! We're currently moving back to the country. Anyway: real Kefir is lumpy. Kombucha that's vinegar-y is just fine. Intense to drink, tho! I've used it on salads & such, like vinegar. Or mixed into other drinks, of with sweeter kombucha. Hope that helps! Guest guest
The stuff called " kefir " in the store is really not very related to " real kefir " . Also the ones we used to get had fruit in them, like a drinkable fruit yogurt, really. You can do the same by putting your homemade kefir in the blender with a banana or other fruit. Kombucha does seem to make acetic acid, which is the acid in vinegar. So yeah, you can use it for the same sorts of things. It does have other chemicals in it though, and some people (like me!) react oddly to it. So I'd take it slow. It ended up giving me migraine-like symptoms (dialated blood vessels in the brain maybe?) so I stopped making it. Guest guest
, I'm going to send you a website that should help by giving you more information. They even have a symptoms list. There are several pages to the site. The first thing you should know is that TSH is not the only test to test your thyroid. Free T3, and Free T4 should be tested too. An endocrinologist, might make you wait a couple of months on the Synthroid before testing again. I suggest reading the link first and then make your decision. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ Roni From: Vining <Vining@...> Subject: Intro and Questions hypothyroidism Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 11:43 AM Hello. I'm new to the list, and am overwhelmed, trying to peruse the archive for answers, as well as Googling, and seeing contradictory information, so I'm sorry. I'm probably going to ask similar questions to everyone else newly joining! I'm 38, and was preparing to try for my first baby in a few days, actually. Now, it looks like that will have to wait. The midwife sent me for a blood test to check thyroid in late March, and the TSH was 10.85. My primary care doctor (who I've never met before, as they have a revolving door of doctors, it seems) prescribed Synthroid, .025mcg. The follow-up test after a month says that TSH is now 12! The dosage has been increased to .075, as of two days ago. Does this sound right? I was really expecting SOME improvement, a slightly lower number, not higher. I'm quite upset and discouraged. I'm sure it's different for each person, but I wondered generally how long I can expect TSH to take to show in the normal range. The dr didn't volunteer any information; the little I know comes from Googling, but I wasn't sure what to ask, and not really comfortable with that dr. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist Friday--otherwise I'd have to wait two months to be seen. Is there any point to going, or might she just tell me the same thing--wait and see? Also, in the last couple of days, I notice that my heart is racing. I really notice it when I lie down. Is this something to be concerned about? I worry that I'm just being overly sensitive to small things... Thanks for any help.
