Guest guest
, Thanks so much for sharing this information. I'm amazed at the crazy concoctions that the compounding pharmacists can make! Amphotericin B is one of the medications that I'm scared to death of, but it's good to know that it can be taken topically without being absorbed. So I assume that you haven't had any side effects from the troches then? I haven't heard of infectious disease doctors here in the US, but that doesn't mean they don't exist somewhere! Unfortunately, allergy and immunology are often combined into one specialty, but it's been my experience that most allergists don't really practice true immunology. It's tough to find a " pure " immunologist, but it probably could be done if I tried hard enough. I'm planning to start with my primary care physician and see where that takes me. Ugh! Thanks again for sharing your experiences with this!
Guest guest
, Everything will depend on your primary and insurance but there are infectious disease doctors all over the country. i have had one of the best for the last 3yrs. He saved my life when the oral and IV steroids set up potentially fatal infections. i was just made PRN a few months ago. He won't release me- he knows me to well. I had IV Ampoterician B for an aspergillis infection in my lung. He switched me to Veraconazole; it worked better. After another round of steroids the same infection appeared in a disc and 2 vertebrae in my back. I spent 6 mos on IV Casperfungin at home. I really hope you can see an ID dr. They look at the big picture differently. becki
Guest guest
Hi Becki, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I just saw my primary care physician (actually her nurse practitioner) yesterday, and I didn't feel like she took my recent problems seriously enough. If things don't shape up soon, I very well may need to see an infectious disease specialist. I really do think I need someone who can look at the bigger picture here. Thanks again, > > > , > Everything will depend on your primary and insurance but there are > infectious disease doctors all over the country. i have had one of > the best for the last 3yrs.
