As far as I understand you are not supposed to take other shots the same day

as your xolair. I take my allergy shots the next day after xolair.

GoGo away, before I drop a house on you!!!!

I have not had them together but did just have an adverse reaction to the

Pneumovax vaccine prior to my first Xolair shot. I had no problem with the

first time I got the shot 10 years ago. But this time I had a cellulitic

reaction. They put my on a strong antibiotic and steroids to get the

swelling down. I was about 12 hours from being hospitalized due to the

reaction.

The one and only time I got a flu shot I had a reaction to it too. But it

was much more generalized - asthma flare, flu-like symptoms, local

irritation. This was when I reacted to egg but was not deemed anaphylactic

yet. Now someone even mentions the flu shot and I run away, very far away.

:-)

I am a bit surprised they would give you all the shots at once. Both the flu

shot and the Pneumovax vaccine are live virus vaccines and that is a bit to

throw at a reactive body.

Hope you feel better soon,

B.

It's interesting you should mention drinking lots of water. From the first time

I was diagnosed with asthma, my allergist has reminded me every visit to drink

lots of water and he has also reminded me to take vitamin C. If I am not

mistaken, this is the first time I've seen the reminder about drinking water on

any of the posts. Great reminder. I drink water so often, now (carry a bottle

with me wherever I go) that I just sort of take it for granted that everyone now

knows about drinking lots of water (at least 8oz every hour is what my allergist

recommended, although I don't think I drink quite that much some days!)

As to reactions to flu and pneumonia shots. So for I have never had a

reaction to either (Thank God). I have already had my xolair shot for this

month, but have to go to my GP for my flu shot when they get it in.

Feeling good today. Hope the rest of you are either getting better or are

feeling good.

Thanks Everyone! Perhaps it is just a reaction to the Pneumovax. I'll mention

it to the nurse when I go in on Weds.

I would strongly recommend drinking plenty of water to anyone who has asthma

or any other inflammatory condition. I drink about 100 oz. per day and it makes

a world of difference. Not long ago, someone on this board posted that you

should drink 1 oz. of water for every 2 pounds you weigh so a 200 pound person

should drink 100 oz's. of water per day -- great advice. Bottoms Up!
