Has anyone ever had to get the dosage higher or more often. The xolair did miracles for me when i first started taking it, and still does, except for when it was getting closer to the next dose, (3 weeks) I start to get wheezy, and chest gets tight. I take the dosages, once a month. Well, the doctor is getting ready to start giving it to me every 2 weeks.
Guest guest
My original dose was 150mg per month and the shot began working after a year but it only lasted for 2 weeks. During the following month it didn't work at all and then it would work for 2 weeks in the 3rd month, and that cycle would keep repeating. My doc increased the dose from 150mg per month to 150 for 2 weeks and 75 for 2 weeks. Since then it's been smooth sailing. I tend to get congested toward the end of the 75mg dose but for the most part it's been the silver bullet. I'm been feeling great ever since! nnicolejhn <nnicolejhn@...> wrote: Hi everyone, I have been using xolair for the last 3 years but just found out about this group. Guest guest
--You must be a beanpole and have low ige. I am on 225 twice a month. I wonder why some doctors give it once a month and others do it twice monthly? Guest guest
Hi Leigh, Xolair has 2 different dosing charts -- one for administration every 4 weeks, and one for administration every 2 weeks. People with lower IgE levels (or lower weights) are typically dosed every 4 weeks. According to the charts, anyone with an IgE under 100 would be dosed every 4 weeks, no matter what their weight. Also, anyone with an IgE over 300 would be dosed every 2 weeks. It seems that most doctors follow these recommendations pretty closely, but some doctors choose to adjust the dosage or length of time between doses, like in 's case. If you'd like, you can take a look at the Xolair dosing charts here: http://www.gene.com/gene/common/inc/pi/xolair.jsp Click on " Dosage and Administration, " then see Table 5 and Table 6. Hope this helps! >I wonder why some doctors give it once a month and others do it twice monthly? Leigh
Guest guest
Leigh, I wish I was a bean pole. I'm a touch over my ideal weight and my IgE was 44. It's probably pretty accurate because I wasn't taking pred at the time. I think the combo of IgE and your weight determines your dose.
