Wierd shaped cukes

Hey all. DH went to a farmer's market last weekend and came back with

some really oddly shaped cucumbers. They are the small variety used

for pickling, but they are shaped so strangely that I don't think I

can get them into a jar in any sort of economical (spacewise) fashion.

I've been using the recipe for pickles in NT, but my question is this

(actually two questions): Are there any special steps required for

slicing the cucumbers before fermenting? Does anyone have any recipes

that specifically use sliced cukes, maybe even one that isn't dill

flavored?

Thanks!
