This is interesting. I have bunches of adverse effects to oral

steroids. I wonder if the effects are as pronounced if the intake of

steroids are inhalation. (I'm taking notes for the discussion at my

next Dr visit, I know he loves it when I pull out my list of topics,

LOL)

my dr.has told me the inhaled steroids have less side effects than oral. after

my last encounters with ALL steroids:oral,IV and inhaled, I have sworn them off.

it will take a matter of life & death AND an act of God to get me to take any of

them again. at my last visit he said he was hoping to handle my next flare-up

with inhaled steroids only.my reply was that he would have to find me first to

take any of it. i don't know of anyone else that has the major problems with

steroids that i have;i'm just unique.i am off all steroids oral and inhaled

since feb. i feel better than i have in 4 years. some people HAVE to have

steroids in some form to breathe; that's a dr/pt thing. i thank God every day

for xolair.

I am " steroid dependent " as the Dr so nicely puts it. I have tried to

wean off of them several times, each time the same result, I couldn't

breath. I have so many side effects/adverse effects that I should be

the poster boy for warnings about Prednisone, LOL. At this point I'm

willing to try just about anything to get off Prednisone!

manic pyschosis which resulted in a two week stay in a

psych unit. Fun was had by all (NOT!)

Anyhoo...

I have HUGE problems with steroids. I had a pred induced

manic pyschosis which resulted in a two week stay in a

psych unit. Fun was had by all (NOT!)

That was from taking only oral medication, not the IV.

The big problem with Asmanex is that stuff rockets my blood

sugars all to hell. Now, my doctor says it SHOULDN'T, but

after a few days of 150+ blood sugars, it had to be that.

Especially since I usually run 80-120.

I take Pulmicort, mostly to humour the doctor. I don't

think it does anything. The Intal does more. My doctor

doesn't think much of Intal, but that's probably because

the Intal Smurfette Pharmacy reps aren't as cute as the

Asmanex ones.

My insurance changed, and I've missed two months of Xolair

injections. I have suffered like a half dead dog. Been on

pred for three weeks. Nebbing much much more. My eczema

has flared. My allergies are out of control, and started

taking Benadryl for the first time in two years.

Today, I get my shot. Thank you heaven above. Before, I

wasn't quite sure how much Xolair did, but boy did I find

out the hard way.

Easy breathing to all!

Nan-->pred for three weeks=no sleep for three weeks, fun

fun fun....

I tried Asmanex recently and all it did was make my throat itch. I asked the

allergist the reason and he looked up the ingredients and it turned out I have

an allergy to one of the ingredients.

If any of you are milk sensitive be careful with asmanex as it contains a milk
