Guest guest
I will remember you in my prayers. ((((HUGS)))) Carol V. > > Well ladies...it's a good thing I have my 6 week post-op visit with Dr Hu in 3 days. I noticed after I got home from my anterior surgery that my tailbone creaked when I walked. Now it creaks more & louder. I'm not in any pain, but I'm now afraid of getting bad news on my visit. I have a feeling she is going to tell me that either I have a failed fusion or a loose screw. If I'm fused to the sacrum, how else can my tailbone creak? I keep thinking about that rough wheelchair ride at the airport after I was released from the hospital. Please keep me in your thoughts & prayers. I will post as soon as I get home from San Francisco........................Kathy >
Guest guest
You were in my thoughts and prayers today, before I read this; I'll keep you there and hope for the best. I know this sounds trite, but don't fret excessively over this because fretting won't make it any better. At least you're very close to another appointment and can get an answer reasonably quickly. > > Well ladies...it's a good thing I have my 6 week post-op visit with Dr Hu in 3 days. Guest guest
Kathy, Try to stay positive! Your body is going through all kinds of adjustments as you heal, and as you are becoming stronger. No doubt you are continuing to move in new ways...some may be nosier than others!I would guess you are way to early in the process to have a failed fusion label given. Unless they find something seriously amiss...my understanding is that the fusion doesnt finish until the 12-18 month time frame. I am glad you have the upcoming visit....hopefully it will set your mind at rest! Take Care, Cam
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, It doesn't necessarily mean failed hardware. My back constantly creaks and pops and everything is fine with it. I used to say I can " hear " my hardware moving...I did get a few crazy looks but now I guess I am used to it. Guest guest
Kathy, I can get some creaking when walking for a long distance. I was told that some of the sounds we feel internally can be muscles moving over hardware. Have everything checked just to put your mind at rest, but truly fusion isn't complete yet, and won't be for awhile. Noisy hardware, is something many of us complain about, but seldom is anything but a nusiance, feels a bit weird, but truly we are the only ones who hear it, and then it seems to be an internal hearing. Let us know what Hu has to say. Colorado Springs On Mon, Mar 7, 2011 at 6:49 AM, redmarmie <vclark@...> wrote: Hi Kathy,It doesn't necessarily mean failed hardware. Guest guest
Thanks Cam & C. I guess I let my emotions get the best of me yesterday. Every step I took...hearing that "eek...eek...eek" gave me flashbacks of my previous surgeries. And needless to say, I shed a few tears. It makes me feel ALOT better that someone else has creaking noises too. The good news is that it isn't causing me any pain. Thank you b oth again for the reassurance.........................Kathy From: cammaltby <cammaltby@...>Subject: [ ] Re: Just my luck Date: Monday, March 7, 2011, 5:44 AM Kathy,Try to stay positive! Guest guest
Kathy, I dont know if its kind of a post-traumatic stress syndrome, but I must say that I do sometimes feel that sense of " waiting for the other shoe to drop " with regard to my revision. I think the first big relief came after the one year anniversary....but in your case I can well imagine that every little creak or pain is going to make you immediately fear the worst. Try to trust that you will heal this time. There really is no reason to believe that you wont. I know you had a harrowing ride in the airport...but as rough as that was, I am very doubtful it could have dislodged anything. They screw those danged implants in pretty well! Hoping to hear a good report upon your return. Take Care, Cam
