The Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio (about 1 to 1.5 hours from Cleveland) often has television commercials in the Northeast Ohio area on a number of health related issues.

Some of these television commercials include a young boy going through chemotherapy treatment for leukemia, a 14-year-old teenager being treated for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and an 18-year old women, , preparing for a spinal fusion surgery to correct her idiopathic scoliosis. The patient, family members, and doctors are often interviewed (the interview of 's father briefly discusses his Harrington Rod spinal fusion when he was a teenager). The general public can also post their experiences on the

web site (I posted a comment a number of months ago). I have never heard of another hospital making such information available, and letting others post their experiences.

Furthermore, in September 2006 there was a live web cast of a spinal fusion being performed on a young boy. During the web cast emailed questions were answered. The web cast can still be viewed.

I happened to see a Commercial again last night, and thought, "hay, I should post this"! So, here it is......
