Guest guest
Donna, Oh yuck, the saran wrap treatment. We do that one when my sons psoriasis gets out of control, what a nuisance, but it works. First time a doctor told me to do that I thought he was crazy. Who would think that you could do that. Guess that is good news if it is localized. You poor thing, what a year. But all in all relatively good news I guess, eh? Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers as always. eajaoky@... wrote: Well it's back...I did go to the docs today and the results of my biopsy indicated localized scleroderma or morphea as it is called by most. I told doc I didn't want to lose weight and seeing how I thought this was a weight loss procedure I want to make sure I lose nothing, lol. Guest guest
, be sure and let your rheumatologist know, its likely you can't have an infusion until this is cleared. Also, be sure and finish all of the medication. MRSA can migrate to artificial joints, and I know you have had some joint replacements. Hope you kick this soon. Guest guest
That Keflex should clear it all up. Worked great for my daughter. Hers did begin to spread, but the Keflex stopped it. She does however have a scar from the original, biggest sore. But overall the med worked well, and I became quite vigilant about keeping the area clean. Any towels or washcloths she used were washed separately in hot water. Not sure if it was necessary, but as I said before no one else in the house caught it. Glad it's getting better! Guest guest
Patty: Sorry to hear of your new dx. My friend's new son in law has been just dx (he is 25) with it, as well. He found out a month before his wedding. Great wedding present, yes?? :-( A family genetic for him, unfortunately. She gave me this site to go to understand, as I told her about PBC and she said some of the symptoms and blood tests mimic each other. http://www.hemochromatosis.org/ Of course, you can also go to the American Liver Foundation site. Good luck. Wow, the longer we live, the more diseases (and new vocabulary) enter our lives; it seems monthly! I had never heard of PBC and now, Hematochromotosis, before last Fall. Guest guest
Shea, A lot of women get benign cysts on their ovaries. Its usally no big deal and most don't even know they are there.. But its probably not a big deal. Yeah on getting to start the new medicine! Results Today the phone rang, this used to be a normal sound, but when you are waiting for results for a test and you see EMORY HEALTHCARE on the caller i.d you hit the green button like your on Deal or No Deal. Dr. Han quickly explained that she saw signs of arthritis and fluid in both of my knees. The hip MRI is another story, she didn't see fluid or signs of arthritis. But she found something else, she saw a cyst on one of my ovaries. This means I have to get a sonigram at an OBGYN. I'm 12 years old and I need to see a OBGYN?!?!?! What? She said it could be nothing or it could be something. But, at least we get the green light to start the new medicine. Has anything like this has happened to any of your kids? Please, let me know Thank you for all of your support and advice!Shea Reasoner
Guest guest
Shea, First of all, Deborah and I are so glad you get to start on the new medicine! Hopefully this will really help your pain and swelling. Second, Deborah did some research, and ovarian cysts are extremely common, even in young girls ages 2-12, (anywhere from 20 to 68% of the kids studied) and almost all were found only because they showed up on a scan. The only times to be concerned are: if there is pain; if the cyst looks partially solid on the ultrasound; or if the cyst doesn't go away after a few weeks. If any of these things occur, it is common to get a biopsy, for which I would recommend having a pediatric surgeon involved with the procedure (at least jointly with the gynecologist.) Third, there is an OB/GYN associated with Children's that does pediatric gynecology in addition to seeing adults. Her name is Dr. Carla and you can see her info here: http://www.emoryhealthcare.org/find_physician/physician_detail.jsp?physicianid=1\ 0978 We'll be keeping you in our prayers! and Deborah ________________________________ From: Shea Reasoner <sheareasoner1@...> Sent: Tue, September 7, 2010 9:32:58 PM Subject: Results Today the phone rang, this used to be a normal sound, but when you are waiting for results for a test and you see EMORY HEALTHCARE on the caller i.d you hit the green button like your on Deal or No Deal. Guest guest
Shea, I am glad you are able to get started on the new medicine and I hope it offers great benefits. I wanted to write to you reference the ovarian cyst. Having had them my entire life that I can remember and my sister also, the doc is Right, it is most likely nothing. AND, if you have not started menses yet, it could be that first follicle ready to rupture that is going to get you started. I have had big ones and small ones, one’s that hurt soo bad I went to the ER thinking my appendix was ready to rupture, mostly though, I feel a twinge just inside my hipbones when I roll over or turn too quick. They can be truly benign but for your age it should be checked out. Better safe!! If you want to talk more about this or want to know about the appt you will have with the OB/GYN and how they will ultrasound them, you are welcome to email me privately. Because of my history, my daughter is at a high risk of having them also, and when we get closer to your age, she will know the symptoms to look for. I can respond with more info here if you think it would be beneficial to all but I am willing to talk with you more off line also. Hugs to you. Joann joann@... Guest guest
Shea, I had no idea you were 12. You write like a much older person. You definitely have a talent for writing. Maybe you should blog your whole arthritis experience - kinda to help other kids. Just thinking. Anyway, I am glad they found out a problem, now you can get help with your knees. What medicines are they putting you on? The cyst. I have had them. But I know nothing about them at your age. You know pediatric medicine isn't just shrunk down adult medicine. You guys are different and growing and developing people. So have it checked out just to be on the safe side. Good luck with your new meds. Keep us updated!
