Guest guest
Hello out there, I spoke to the pharmacist and also the my allergist spoke to Genentech or Norvartis about hearing loss. The results are that one said a handfull of people have had hearing loss and the other said it was two who had other health issues at the time they were on Xolair. Neither were directly linked to the Xolair but it is a red flag to me still due to the side effect of Earaches. I am going to U of M in July about the hearing loss but am still reluctant to stay off the Xolair. The side that stops me from starting it again, ( I stopped it 4 weeks ago) is the Earaches, I have those still and didn't have that before the Xolair except in the right ear which is the one that kept getting infected over the past few years. That led to Meningitis and a 6 day coma last Feb 14, 2005. Needless to say I am a bit paranoid. I had to learn to walk again and feed myself. I was in Acute rehab afterward. I also get psorisis worse than I have had it in the past and in different areas of my body. Also Fatique and arm pain but I have had those before. My doctor at first wanted to put me on both Allery Shots and Xolair. I argued about it not making sense to add allergens to my body that the Xolair would block. How would the Immunotherapy (Shots) desensitize my system if the Xolair was blocking the IGE's?? Anyone know anything about this concomitant treatment?? A vile of the Immuneotherpy serum had already been sent to my primary care doc for the shots to start but my asthma was so bad that the allergist decided to put me on the Xolair alone instead. I am thinking about going back to those. I had little side effects but I was also still having some problems. If I remember right I was better than I am now though. The Singular is helping me get through each day. My IGE again is " 1273 " !!! I can live without hearing but I can't live without breathing! What a choice! Has anyone heard of this? Dr. Rosenwasser's Answer: The IL-4 work with the receptor antagonist by Immunex is on hold because of equivocal results in helping asthma. Other companies are going ahead with trials of an anti-IL4 humanized monoclonal antibody. The results are too preliminary to comment on at this point. http://www.njc.org/disease-info/diseases/allergy/about/faq/treat- meds.aspx I wonder if this is the stuff similar to Xolair that was tried in Canada with some negative results. Someone posted about that a week or two ago. Well, this is my update. I will be going for a week beginning tomorrow but I am hoping to find a pc where I can get my mail. I am looking forward to your responses. Keeping breathing, > > > > Hello - > > > > I want to use Zolair.
