Wow, thats amazing your a trooper, i delivered my daughter vaginally but my curve is 17 degreesand they also used the suction to get her out. But that was 8 years ago and my pain level from flatback is much worse, especially in the past 6 months..Thanks for sharing it makes me feel better..From: rebeccamaas <rebeccamaas@...>To:

Hi! When looking back at old pictures, I had flatback before getting pregnant with either of my kids (now 5 & 6). It wasn't as painful as it was for me immediately leading up to surgery. I don't know that I had any more or less back pain than a person with a normal spine during pregnancy.

My torso is very compacted, as my original fusion left me with curves around 55 degrees each still, and my ribs sit almost on my pelvis on one side. Because of this (in my opinion anyways), I didn't have a lot of room inside me to carry the pregnancies full term. My first baby was 5lb 10oz and 3 1/2 wks early, and the second was only 5lb 3oz and 4 1/2 wks early. I delivered both naturally with no epidural, because I didn't want anyone coming near my spine (fused to L4 at that time) with a needle. The deliveries went alright, tho the first was more difficult and required suction to help pull the baby out. Maybe it was due to scoliosis, and maybe it was just my unique pregnancy story. It's hard to tell, because everyone is so different with pregnancy, with or without scoliosis!

Good luck with it!
