They can tell the style of practice by looking at what products the practitioner orders. After you found out my Surgeon Dr. F. O'Brien had moved to Texas( I'm sorry I didn't know) I looked him up, and he's now in Plano, at the Baylor Scoliosis Center. If you hadn't told me I'd never have seen his really fancy resume listed there, and guess what I found out I never knew about him, he did a Fellowship with Dr. Bridwell, one of the best in the field. Even I who have been at this support work for years, learn something everyday. So those of you in Texas, here another doc to add to the list where you are, if not local to you, in the same state. Always know, the joy of our group is that you are not alone, we get it, and we help each other get through this mess, and yes, daily it's a blessing, the give and take. It has been 3 years since my revision surgery and everything is good! I can finally pull up the weeds in my garden and I can squat to pick stuff up. I can even lie on the beach and manage to get back up! I have slacked off on the walking because I have been working 2 jobs, but I love to dance reggae and soca. I drive a little sports car, but Bernie said don't tell Dr B that I have been driving in sports car club events. I try to drive smoothly, so I am not the fastest person on the track, but I am enjoying life! I wish everybody could feel so good. I did not take all the meds Dr Bridwell gave me. I may take a lortab about once a month or every other month if I do too much -- like sanding the wood floors at my daughter's house. I cut the dreads a couple of weeks before surgery to make it easier to wash my hair without bending over. I am so sick of being so dependent on meds to get me through my day. I don't get "high" on them just takes the intense sting out of my lower back and that enables me to get out of bed and function. Sorry for the dreads question. My brother also has some down to his rear that he has been growing for over 20 yrs. And his 5 yr. old son has some going to. Thanks for letting me pick your brain about this back nightmare hopefully soon i will be able to put all of this behind me and enjoy life again. I miss that.
