Guest guest
All looks good!!! The car ride into Boston was uncomfortable after a while but i felt better when i got to the hospital. Had x-rays (yes i am having them send me copies) and then went to up to dr. Rand's office. while i was checking in Dr Rand came into his office and i noticed he was looking at my xrays on his computer. He blew up the picture and showed it to me..a lot of hardware, bolts..i thought it looked scary but he was really happy with it. After we talked in the room. He said i was doing great. He does not want me power walking or anything right now for i am still in the healing stage. He said just to live my life..I will start PT at 6 months. He said he will have them work with me on getting ready to work in my preschool classroom again in the fall. I was fortunate to be able to take a medical leave for the remainder of the school year to heal. i can swim, or use a recumbent bike if i want but dont have to. I need to use my bone stimulator for a total of 9 months and my brace up to 6 months. If after 3 months i do not want to wear it all the time i dont have to. He said there has been a lot of new evidence that anterior surgery may no longer be needed for us. One posterior surgery can usually do the trick (for him anyway). I will return in May for a 6 month postop appt. I went up to the floor to check in on Robin.. What memories to be back on that floor but on the other side of the bed. Robin was in bed and was having a lot of head (sinus pain). I told her the head pain could still be from the anesthesia too. She wasn't hooked up to an iv or pain pumps but still had her cath in. I told her that was great since her surgery was just Monday. She has even been up walking a bit and cannot wait until she can get up more. She has a lot of back spasms when she is moved in her bed. She is still at the " i'm not so sure i should have done this stage " that we go through but i hope a week that in a week or so she will feel better about her decision. A man was there to measure her for her brace and noticed i had one on too. He noticed mine was loose and adjusted it for me..A nurse came in too so i decided to leave for i had an hour drive home. I did still manage to stop to have a sandwhich and a beer with hubby on the way home...pretty good for 10 weeks out huh...
