Guest guest
My daughter has very mild allergic asthma and has responded quite well to the immunotherapy. No hacking asthma cough and she uses her inhaler only before she is going to exercise. But she is also taking singulair. I know this isn't about xolair, but the year I missed taking my flu shot I had a horrible case of the flu ( I was still teaching school, then and it was almost epidemic in our school) and it played havoc with my asthma. So needless to say, I have not missed a shot since. Of course I am also now in the " age risk " bracket. My mom who is also an asthmatic missed her flu shot several years ago, had the flu, had a relapse and we almost lost her. It took her several months to recover. She hasn't missed a shot since, either, and she is 92! I know there is a lot of controversy about the flu shots and some people do have severe reactions to them. But they have worked for me and my mom. Adah <carrie72583@...> wrote: Ok I need to give my 5$ worth. It would appear that the evidence that immunotherapy helps asthma is sketchy. It may help other manifestations of allergy but there are many many things that trigger asthma via many immunological pathways so desensitization may not help. As Adah indicated, it may cause trouble. I was offered the option about allergy shots by my pulmo. I declined. My ins will cover Xolair without failed shots. Perhaps it's like singulair. Helps some but does nada for others. Ok, I will get down from my soap box. One day, ask me what I think about flu shots.... (who is also opinionated!!!!)
