Guest guest
Very well said, ! Back in 2004, I was on 40-60 mg of prednisone for only 3 MONTHS and was not taking Xolair. I had ZERO joint problems before the prednisone (I'm only 32) and I came out of the weaning process with TONS of permanent joint problems. I personally believe that the steroids had a direct effect on my joints...that they actually CAUSED the joint problems in some way. I know the medical research probably doesn't show it yet, but no one will ever convince me otherwise. I actually think that steroids have a way of triggering health problems or causing a rebound effect. For example, after I finished my first round of steroids a few years ago, my seasonal allergies became even worse than they were before. After my second round, my skin sensitivity increased immediately afterward and has never gone back to " normal. " After the third round, the steroids fried my hair and turned it kinky- curly, and it's still like that! And then there are the permanent joint problems! I mean, look at all the KNOWN side effects of steroids...imagine all the UNKNOWNS! Prednisone can do some weird stuff! Thanks again for bringing this to our attention! , 32, Louisville
Guest guest
I'm the one who started the thread about joint pain and I've never been on Prednisone. My doctor has suggested it a couple of times when I had an upper respiratory infection but I declined and instead took antibiotics, which cured the infection without needing Pred. My husband had to have it once for hives and he was so miserable I vowed I wouldn't take it unless there was no other alternative. I recognize many of you have more severe asthma than I do and I feel for you. I wondered about the joint problem because I started Xolair in February and have had joint problems since then, but it's probably a coincidence.
