From: hangingin4593 <no_reply > Subject: inJections not fun but work spinal problems Date: Saturday, June 5, 2010, 2:13 PM  I had a set of three epidural injections, 2 wks apart. They give a max of 3, but stop at 1 or 2--as soon as u feel relief. I was afraid, cuz I didn't get relief until the 3rd one. Usually they relieve pain for 6 mos. I got lucky--mine lasted a year. The 3rd one actually hurt worse cuz the area was SO inflamed. I was *w*ke, but its over in 30 seconds. I'm having another set soon. I'm not worried. I get mine in the lower lumbar region--my L5/S1 is gone--its disintegrated. My sister had the other type where you go under anesthesia. She had them every 3 to 6 months for 10 years. She cannot have anymore. Eventually, long term use turns the muscles to mush. Not to mention that she jumped too quick to have surgery after surgery. And when she was numbed up from shots or meds, she'd mow the lawn, wash the car, it is SO important to take it easy and remember our limitations even if we feel better. My sister had undiagnosed neuropathy--which caused numbness and tingling, unrelated to her back. So her surgeries and shots were for naught. I'm looking forward to my next set of shots for some much needed relief.
