I have just scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bridwell in St. Louis for March 2.

Thanks to all who advised me along these lines.

I am flying from Detroit and hope to arrive in St. Louis airport about 8am. It was the earliest flight I could find. i have an appointment for 9am. I booked a return flight at 5pm, the latest I could book at that (discount) rate. It seems like too much, especially at the rate of speed that I walk, and I will be going alone.

Hi Eve,

My thoughts are with you for a wonderful recovery. I live in

Philadelphia and am considering going to see Dr.Bridwell. I am

scheduled for surgery with Dr.Boachie, but he is out-of-network and

may be too much of a financial burden. I've read wonderful things

about your surgeon, so I am happy he is in network for me. Whenever

you're up to it, I'd love to hear about your experiences.

How far is it to Bridwell's from the airport? I wonder if there is

anybody in St. Louis that can meet up with you? It sounds like a long

day, waiting until 5 for a return flight. Hopefully, it will be worth

it. Don't forget a list of questions, look under files in the left

column for a list of surgeon questions to get you going. Have you

thought of bringing a tape recorder? I did, to one of my appointments

when I had to go alone. It is tough to remember all the answers.

Philadelphia! My sister lives right outside Philly in Maple

Glen/Ambler area. What part of PA are you from??

Hi Eve,

I didn't have the problems you described...but by way of

encouragement, I just wanted to say that early on in the healing there

certainly were parts of my back that were very painful...but all that

subsided by the 7-9 months time frame. Of course if you think its an

unusual change up from the pain you had when you first had the

surgery, you should consult with the doc.

I do think when I first woke up from surgery that everythig just was

so painful, that I probably missed some of the less " obvious " pain

until the traumatic/surgical stuff started to subside. It took

awhile...so don't be too upset....things may settle down yet!

Eve,

I have a spot where an implant is a little more prominient, and DrRand

said that the implant can work through the muscle over time. I noticed

it alot more at first...he even taped a paperclip to the spot and had

me do an xray to show me what it was...and after that I was able to

put it out of my mind. Its funny how when you worry that something is

wrong that it can be a heck of a lot more painful!

my appointment is at 12:30. You may or may not be there by then.

Email me privately and I can give you my cell phone number. I think

we are planning to drive up from OKC on Saturday and try to do some

tourist stuff on Sunday. We will drive back home after my

appointment. I have never had one so late, so I am sure it will be

very late before I get out of there!
