Guest guest
Well, apparently I got into my shoes a little too much over the weekend. My feet are in agony again from inflammation today. So swollen I almost couldn't get them in my shoes--and these are normally loose shoes. They hurt so bad I can't stand at all again. I'm off the steroids and the inflammation is apparently not done--but was just suppressed while on the meds. I don't know what to do. When will I be able to walk again? I mean, I did a little over the weekend, but not much at all compared to normal people. Very frustrating. *Unnecessary amounts of quoted text removed by moderator for poster. Guest guest
, sorry this flare up has lasted so long. It's just a guess, but is the pain in your foot in the same place as it was before the shoes? If not, it could be that you are using muscles that you haven't used in a long time. Most of these type shoes put most of the weight on your heel...and the muscle/tendon running down the back of your leg can stretch and cause pain, too. If it is muscle related, one of the muscle relaxants could help....flexeril, soma, etc. My husband had your same ailment for several months...he did PT (scissor type exercises, in place) but, that didn't do the trick. However, the steroid shot in his foot did work, in his case. Best regards, Connie (granny)
Guest guest
Hi , I'm thinking along the same lines as Connie... like when you get orthotics and they say to wear them 1 hour for the first day, 2 the next, etc, only they feel so good you wear them all day the first day, then can't walk the next... speaking purely from personal experience! I really hope you feel better soon. Take care-- Pat Grannyof9@... wrote: , sorry this flare up has lasted so long. Guest guest
Hi I have a friend of mine who has had back problems for years due to an injury. She also swears by the z-coil shoes. She said she'd be more or less an invalid without them. She has acquired several pairs and makes every opportunity to brag about them. She is also thinking of starting her own store to sell them. My Mom has also bought a pair and it has really releived her foot pain. I don't use them myself, and don't have any back or foot pain, but based on what others have told me about them, they appear to work wonders for people. I highly recommend them. *Unnecessary amounts of quoted text removed by moderator for poster.
Guest guest
Hi , I am starting to walk very short distances--a few steps per day and the z-coil already help a lot. What a great invention. My mother is really skeptical about them so it's good to hear real life testimonials about them. Thank you!
Guest guest
wow, they sound fantasic...just search on z-coil???? From: Goodman <goodman156@...> Subject: Z-coil shoes Joint Replacement Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 5:12 PM Someone mentioned Z-coil shoes. I have been wearing nothing but Z-coil shoes since about May 2005. They last forever! The first ones I bought, Velcro sandals and black " athletic " style, are still in service and look brand new - and one or the other has been worn every day since May 2005. Along the way I have had to get new heels and recently in Miami, the owner of the Z-coil store there fixed my 3-yr-old sandals (he shortened the straps) which I have worn probably 2/3 of the year every year. They look like brand new! My husband insisted I get another pair of sandals since they may stop making my size (5) and then, where would I be? Check it out: http://www.zcoil.com/ Anyway, the point of these shoes is to make walking less painful on all joints: feet, ankles, hips, back, etc. They work very well. They are not stylish and I look at pretty, sexy shoes wishfully at stores, but know that if I buy them I will not wear them. This is because after an hour or so in regular shoes I am realizing how much less pain I would be in if I were I my z-coils. Since it's winter I am wearing my favorites - red nubuck z-coil hiking boots, every day, everywhere. Along with the sandals and the black athletic shoes, they make up my entire shoe wardrobe. Since I only had one knee done, in Oct, and it still hurts, I am wearing x-coils for at least a year more, and even after have recovered completely from my second TKR in a year, I still have a bad back and my hips are starting to hurt.   Good bye glamour! And BTW, our house is all hardwood floors, so I have to put them on early in the morning, otherwise just walking back and forth in the house would wreck my knees and back. So they aren't just for sidewalks, warehouses and other surfaces! They are good at home, if you have hard floors there, too. claire Callahan Goodman
Guest guest
Oh what a shame there is only one store in Canada for these shoes and it's in Edmonton, AB. They sound very interesting and I would have liked to give them a try. Sylvie Hanna, , BC On 9-Jan-09, at 2:12 PM, Goodman wrote: > Someone mentioned Z-coil shoes. They are expensive shoes. My feet must have hurt before knee surgery, because the last thing I bought before I went into the hospital were gel insoles (worthless!). After the knees were working again, I could really feel the plantar faciitis in my feet. These z-coil shoes have helped me keep my sanity. They feel great! They are well made and very comfortable. The only trouble I have had is one heel gets a little loose occasionally and clicks, but I just tighten up the mounting screw with a screwdriver. I found them by doing a little research online, and found that there was a store here (Sprongs). I wasn't driving yet, so my wife drove me there to look at them. We both tried them on and walked around a little. I was having a little sticker shock at the $200 price tag, and looked over at the counter and saw my wife buy two pair. Maybe the comfort that day was that there was not nearly as much weight in my wallet, while walking in my new shoes back to the car. Right now, I don't see myself wearing any other kind of shoe, except, maybe, for ice fishing or climbing ladders. For those waiting for knee replacement, these are especially worth a try. Guest guest
Bill, that's great, I'm glad you found a store. But ordering them mail-order just wouldn't work, I think - you have to try them out. However, if you can't, and they will let you return them, mail order may be the only way for some people. YES, whoever asked, just go to http://www.zcoil.com/ Callahan Goodman It wouldn't surprise me if most of the stores would do mail order business with you, though it is always good to know your size.
