Guest guest
Hi : Thanks so much for the reminder. I did read somewhere about Serevent causing problems, but I figured it wouldn't affect me because I don't have severe asthma. So could that be the cause of feeling congested? I'm printing out the information you posted. Thanks again for writing. Carol
Guest guest
Thanks for the information. I am going to the Jewish Hospital in Denver next week and I will find out more about this drug and let everyone know what I find out. ~STEVE ZIMMERMAN, CPM, CVOM~ ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Carol Corley Sent: Monday, July 24, 2006 2:15 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Carol abt.Advair (Serevent) Hi : Thanks so much for the reminder. Guest guest
I spoke with my doctor about this and he said as long as you don't use it more than 2x per day it is safe. He said there are a large number of deaths associated with the medication but all of them (according to my doctor) we using Serevent as their rescue inhaler - i.e. 2 puffs 4x per day. It was never intended to be used that way. I was considering taking Flovent instead of Advair but my doc suggested I stay on Advair. I like it because it is so much more convenient to take but everyone has to make that decision for themselves, ideally with their doctor. It took a year for me to stop it myself after approaching to docs about what I had found out about it. I felt much better within a week. Guest guest
I tried Serevent/Advair twice and had heart palpitations and headaches both times. I also get them from albuterol, so I take Maxair (pirbuterol) or Xopenex (the ®-isomer of albuterol) instead. I can't help but think that the years of epinephrine injections, theophyllin and aminophyllin they used in the old days have made me more sensitive to these drugs overall. I'm grateful that they saved my life, but I'm also grateful there are alternatives like Xolair. --Kitty Hello Carol, > > I stopped anything containing Serevent several months ago after reading > this. Guest guest
I also spoke to my Dr about this issue. He really feels some people have the response that some can get from proventil which is a severe bronchiospasm . He ahs stopped the advair in some patients but those with severe asthma he feels the benefits outweigh the risks. So he told me I still need the advair.
