Guest guest
Grammy Pat, Hi! My folks are from Wilkes-Barre and area. I grew up in a town called Boothwyn, about 1/2 hour from Philadelphia. I now live in a town called Aston, which is about 10 minutes from where I grew up. I know a lot of the territory from going to my grandmom's all the time. I can understand your missing it. It's like going home when I visit my remaining relatives. I hope your cold is getting better. Sometimes rest and fluids are what you need most, but most of us can't afford the time to give to let ourselves get better. I wish you well. Guest guest
Wilkes barre is just a hop skip and a jump from Scranton. We went back last fall for a visit and I was amazed at all the changes and the new Arena. We are big hockey fans and it figures we lived there for 47 years and they wait until we move to bring a hockey team to the area!!! My cold is much better today but the fever persists. I just can't seem to shake it and it wears me down. But I have done nothing but rest for 4 days and I am way over the boredom limit. Guest guest
Grammy Pat, As much as most of us hate to hear this, sometimes as we get older, our bodies take a little longer to heal than they used to when we were younger. Boy, I hate saying that! And as much as I hate the thought, it is true. Find a couple of real good movies, maybe something on AMC, drink a hot toddy, something to help you sweat out the fever, and just enjoy. Before you know it, you'll be feeling back to your normal self and wishing you had some time to yourself to relax. So enjoy while you can, it won't last much longer. One of the most important things when you see an Endo Doctor is to make sure they spend the amount of time with you that you are comfortable with and answer all your questions. I am on my third Endo Doctor within the last 12 months. Even though they all had the same opinion I was not comfortable with the doctor. I finally found a doctor I am very comfortable with. My actual diagnosis is hashitoxicosis which is a very severe form of hyper with borderline Graves and Hashimoto. You may want to just go online and search under thyroid disease and print out the sympton list and mark the ones you are having. If you are irritable they can put you on an antidepressent. I've been on Zoloft for 8 years. As far as treatments, they have to do some test before they can decide the right kind of treatment. Good Luck!! Guest guest
Hi Wanda, Have you ask to be refered to a pain specialist. Sounds like you need some help managing the pain levels. I am seeing one and he has helped me a lot with my pain level. I had a third THR done in April. Was in a car wreck and had a shattered femur bone also. So I know what you mean when you talk about pain. My doctor had to build a cage to put the socket joint in and sounds as if thats what you will need next time. See if you can see a pain specialist as you need help. L & F, "Don't hold to anger, hurt or pain. They steal your energy and keep you from love." -- Leo Buscaglia http://www.mmpets.com/Mystery Mountain Pets Re: Digest Number 177 I have had a total knee revision that has lasted 11 years it is now giving me problems so a second revision is in my future as soon as I work up the courage I also had a total hip replacement in 1999 it needed revised in 2001 so it only lasted 2 years ...The revision has been a nightmare I am in pain almost daily..I am awake a LOT at night unable to get comfortable.. I am on a cane and in a scooter if I go to fairs or shopping.. It has only healed to 6 weeks post op.....no reason was ever stated for the lack of healing I also suffered nerve damage and have lost muscle strength I use to be active now I sit a LOT I have gained weight and am overall not happy with the outcome of my revision surgery My surgeon is a GOOD surgeon one of the best in our state He does not want to fix this problem he is afraid the hip will break because the wall where the cup is ..is very thin.. So here I am a 47 year old mother and grandmother that has very little energy to see me thru my days because of my pain level Hopefully someday the hip will heal but being 2 years post op now I doubt it :-( Wanda

Guest guest
Hello my Wonderful Wanda, You always have such great in put. I agree there are many things that can elevate blood pressure. Often people don't even realize how many things we do that can kick it up. It is always good to be aware of our bodies. We need to all treat our bodies like a great treasure. If we all do that daily we will all be feeling and looking better day by day. Be Healthy and take good care, Rashelle Harness the Powerful Benefits of Oxygen with LifeLift. LifeLift is the Original Aerobic Breathing Re: Does LL bring down high blood pressure? Hi , I think LL definately helps most people lower their blood pressure. I am a rare one tho; I do LL faithfully and especially the day of any doctor appt; and my b/p remains higher than it should. I think it depends a lot of the various reasons our b/p is elevated; such as weight; genetics; sleep; stress; etc. Also, don't forget about the 'white coat theory' where a lot of people have elevated b/p as soon as they see the Doctor. Because of this I would highly recommend you find a place that does b/p readings and go there as often as you can and keep a chart. Some pharmacies will even take it for you. I used to use a wrist b/p monitor but it wasn't accurate at all. So I take my own with the old fashioned cuff and stethoscope and keep track of it daily. Good luck to you! Hugs! Wanda. We had cake and ice cream for them both as well as a meal. My grandson turned one today and he is just an adorable little chap. Guest guest
Wanda, Grandchildren are definately a blessing. Especially when they are so young. I can just sit and watch him discover or try and copy what he has seen and just melt inside, overflowing with love and joy with him. We bought him one of those cars from the movie Cars. Its a yellow soft toy that looks like one of the characters in the movie and when you bump it or throw it it voice activates and says one of several phrases. When he first got it I showed him to throw it and it would work and he would crawl to get it and do it again then I got two for my birthday and I showed him you could bump them together and they would both activate or you can take your open hand and pat them and they will work. It is precious to watch and one hand grasps the toy and the other lightly pats the car and looks at me all in the same instant with a smile all the way to his eyes. It makes me want to weep with joy. I never thought I would be this way. I wasn't this way with even my own children. Our desktop picture is of him sitting on the kitchen floor with pots upside down and a spoon to bang on them with a smile that makes you grin just looking at him. Bare toes and all. I don't remember the other Wanda very much because I was having such a difficult time in getting everyone straight in my head. With two 's and two Wanda's plus all the others and posting from more than one account three different sites (More Oxygen, Life Lift, Life Lift for prayer) I finally had to settle on one. Not long after I did that I think she must have quit posting or our computer went down and I wasn't on the site for a while. Too many computers and too many years to keep it all straight. lol Now I still have trouble and mix someone up every now and then but if I let it stop me I would be lurking and it's not near as much fun.
