Guest guest
Hi Pat et al., I seem to recall a while back you had commented on the possibility of being under-dosed for your Xolair. I am taking 225 mg every 2 weeks with corresponds to an IgE of 367 I believe. However, I know that IgE values are reduced while on pred and this measurement was taken when I was in the midst of a massive flare and receiving IV solumedrol. I have been on the magic glue for 1 year already and I have begun to see very small improvements. VERY small. I can now make it down to 7mg of pred before I flare again when previously it was 12.5 and I recover faster. This is all good. But I wonder if I am being under-dosed because I have had had no improvement in my sinus allergies and I still had a massive flare post intense cat exposure. I am also now the proud owner of a productive cough for the last 9 months when I previously never coughed (CT, chest xray, sputum samples all show nada - nothing but white cells in the sputum). The cough is new since I started on Xolair. My pulmo attributes it to " a change in your asthma - no one can really explain it " My insurance is very slack (I am Canadian for some reason they just foot the bill and ask no questions) so I could easily get my dose increased and paid for. I know you had said some of your patients benefited from more Xolair so I am debating asking my pulmo if we can up the dose for a couple months to see if I can speed up the improvements. Any comments you have on my idea would be greatly apprecaited. Obviously, after a year of Xolair, re-measuring IgE would not be useful. Thanks so much for your valuable input!
