Wow! I just realized it will be four years next week that I had revision surgery

in Boston with Dr. Glazer. I am well considering what I was before surgery. I am

fairly active, I see a PT specialist who helps keep my neuropathy under control.

I also have a bit of sciatica that we have been working with but that is

relatively new. Everything else is great! I just signed up for a 8 mile hike

with the cub scouts so something must be working. Was it worth it? You bet. If

it had only bought me a year of quality it would have been worth it. So,

everyday has been a blessing. Thanks, C

Val,

Four years, thats a milestone! I'm 8 years out, and remember well your journey through this and how you have inspired many members with your story. Isn't walking distances such a blessing! I did a three mile walk up and down significant hills doing the Breast Cancer walk last year, and was in tears at the end, not only that I did it for my Mom who passed from it, but for me, that I was able to do it, and did it with gusto. At the end, I said this is for you Mom, and thank you Dr. Kumar. I bet you will feel the same accomplishment. When we were in the thick of Flatback, neither of us probably could see ourselves doing these walks.

Dear friend, the journey is and was long, with some challenges, but you are amazing, and a real blessing to those who come after you!

Thanks,

,

Awww, thanks for such kind words. You are a good friend. I can remember horrible

posts of emotional strife, confusion and pure ignorance as I tried to weed my

way through revision. That is why I stay. I can remember and will always

remember how hard it was for me and want to help anyway I can to make it just a

bit easier for others.

I haven't been on the site for awhile but recognize names still! It has been 3

1/2 years and I also am doing well. Dr Lauerman at town said I don't have

to come back for annual visits unless I have a need. I hope sharing the

positive stories is helpful for others. I would do it all again in a heartbeat

and probably wouldn't have waited so long for relief. (I would have liked a

little more cosmetic correction as I still lean a bit.) I am feeling well and

active. No pain or fatigue. We have taken up sailing. Good luck to all.

Annette,

It's so good to have you chime in, and marvelous to hear how well you are doing, makes me smile! Sailing, YEAH, sounds like a ton of fun. Years back when we went to North Carolina for our groups retreat, it was so good to see the boats on the water, I have really missed the ocean here in Colorado, there is something that really draws a person to the sea.

So pain is gone, function is good, amazing. I too am not perfection, I'm still a little( a smidge) from exactly upright( only a trained eye could tell) and list a bit to the right, but it doesn't hinder anything, and at 8 years out now, I'm not concerned, pains gone, can walk as much as I'd like, so it's all good. A new start at a functioning life, and thats whats important.

It's so good to hear from you, makes it true what Cam always says, people move on and we don't hear from them much cause they are doing well, out living life, and for us, nothing makes us happier.

Blessings to you and yours, chime in when you can, no one could be more pleased for your good fortune.
